Another wonderful stay in Sunapee

We spent the week before Christmas at Well Sweep for the second year in a row. It was another wonderful visit to a charming part of the Northeast. We skied all over New Hampshire and Vermont and enjoyed the local restaurants and attractions. The barn is a beautiful property and very well equipped. The owner and caretaker were very communicative and helpful, making it a seamless stay. Highly recommended.

Wellsweep Stone Barn

The property was more spacious and luxurious than advertised and easily accommodated our family. The property manager helped us settle in. All the utensils for us to cook and eat together were supplied. We spent two rainy days happily engaged inside and on sunny days played volley ball and croquet outside on the lawn and hiked and swam at nearby attractions.

Newbury NH Gem

Our weeklong stay at “Well Sweep” was wonderful. We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary (and Thanksgiving) with family and friends and the historic property easily accommodated all our needs. It was nice to have such a grand space to spread out, relax and enjoy each other’s company. Plenty of room to get away if you needed that, too. Family gatherings for meals was made easy by a well appointed kitchen and pantry. Two ovens and two dishwashers helped a lot to keep the good times going. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Overall, a truly wonderful and memorable time!

Great house, poor preparation

The house is amazing, great for big groups, and the main room is fantastic for entertaining. There is lots of space to spread out and enjoy family and friends. That being said, communicaiton with the property manager was inadequate as the care taker was not alerted to our arrival and therefore the heat wasn't turned on, a big bummer, as we arrived mid November and it took 24 hours to get the home up to temperature. The house was relatively clean, but it was clear it had been cleaned after the last group had stayed there and not before our arrival. Linens and towels are provided at an extra cost and with notification. We let Chris know 8 days before our arrival that we would need this service and after many unsuccessful attempts to confirm our need, we were finally able to touch base a couple of days before we showed up. The linens were out but none of the beds were made up. I do not think we were charged for the linen service, but it sure would have been nice to know what we were in for. A word to future guests, they do not plow the driveway if it snows. We had a foot of snow and thankfully we had 4wd, but it would have been hard without it.

We choose the barn to house family and friends for the week and to help us celebrate as we wed. Unfortunately when we showed up the place had not been cleaned from the night before and the caretaker wasn’t home. However shortly after arriving she came to meet us and apologize for the mess. The owner did not inform her of our reservations (I read another review stating the same). Anyway the cleaners came the next day and we had an incredible stay.

Well Sweep FTW!!

We hosted a five family (10 adults / 9 kids) friends reunion over six days at Well Sweep with the house and all its accommodations more than holding its own. Plenty of rooms, bathrooms, kitchen space, toys, space to run around and nearby lakes/activitiies for everyone to enjoy. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to appreciate an interesting old home in a quaint corner of NH.

Wonderful open space with cozy spaces

Loved staying at this home while attending a graduation. The space is wonderful, with all the amenities needed for our group and a myriad of cozy spaces all around. Our entire group took turns taking their photo in the "Game of Thrones" chair by the fire place. Truly appreciated Michael's attentiveness, he was truly just a phone call away.

Fantastic spot for a family get-away

We gathered with family members from across the country for a week long vacation in New Hampshire. The house was absolutely perfect for our large party. Lots of space to gather with our big group, but also to spread out. Kids even could use a separate play space. My 8yo declared it “the best house ever!” Michael was extremely easy to communicate with and kind. We loved it!

Wonderful holiday in New England

We spent the last two weeks of 2022 with our family at Well Sweep. We could not have had a better stay. The property was clean and very well stocked and even has a pizza oven. The massive size of the barn makes it perfect for large groups, as everyone can gather together but there are also many places gather and play games, work puzzles, read, etc. the owner and on-site caretaker were great to deal with and gave great suggestions on things to do in the area. Mt Sunapee is less than 10 minutes away but we also hit Stowe, Mt Snow and Okemo for skiing. Highly recommended for a large group!!

Family snow trip

Nice large property. Ruth was very attentive and attempted to resolve issue with hot water and only 1 shower at a time. (needed a bigger fix than could be done during our stay) We got 26 inches of snow and loved it! great kitchen.....could use some full size glasses. very convenient to skiing, grocery stores and they were all about keeping the roads and driveway plowed. Overall a great place.

Family reunion done right

Had a great family reunion at Well Sweep. The property is gorgeous and put together just right. Small intimate spaces, lots of larger group spaces, good light, very conducive to good living. We made great use of the lovely lawn space for lawn games every night! We were minutes away from a family friendly beach, marina, boat slips and canoe/ kayak put ins. Also very close to dining and shopping options! Our crew had fun mountain biking and zip lining at Mount Sunapee. Hiking was also a big hit. Thank you for giving us this chance to spend quality time together!

The Barn is absolutely beautiful and in a great location! Very impressed with the architecture and open floor plan. We had 11 people and there was plenty of seating around the kitchen table and living room areas. The mattresses were comfortable, and the bathrooms were clean. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook: pots, pans, utensils, etc. Also, there were games & toys.We were there, unfortunately during an awful heat wave and the Barn got extremely hot, humid, and uncomfortable. There were ceiling and window fans but they did not provide adequate cooling and even closing up the windows and blinds did not help. It would have been nice to have some mini splits for cooling, at least in the bedrooms. The outside was a little disappointing. It is definitely in need of some maintenance. There were some railings missing on the stairs, the deck flooring is scraped and needs replacing, the roof shingles were loose and some of the roofing asphalt was all over the deck. Lots of spiders and spider webs! And the deck furniture was not at all what is depicted in the pictures. We managed ok as there was at least enough plastic chairs, and a small plastic table, but the bigger deck table and chairs that were shown in the pictures was not there. Lots of weeds. Grill did not work.Overall it is a unique and beautiful residence and we had a lovely time, but the pictures need updating and there should be some maintenance done to improve the outside.

Nice House but plan to lose security deposit

The Barn is a very nice house with a tremendous amount of space. I stayed there twice this year for two separate business retreats. While we enjoyed the facilities very much, our security deposit was withheld BOTH times. The first time (October 2009) the owners stated we scratched the floors. The second time (May 2010) our deposit was withheld because she said we allowed "bugs and critters" to enter the house after we vacated. On both occasions we treated the house with great respects. These were business meeting with no kids. Neither time did she call or email to discuss before holding back the money. In the context of the overall cost of renting this home, losing all or part of the security deposit is not a major financial hit, but it is a petty annoyance that just leaves a bad taste in one's mouth (twice!).

Perfect Vacation Home Getaway For Large Gathering

One of the loveliest vacation homes I could ever imagine. We rented it out for a family reunion and every man, woman and child loved their stay. Plenty of well kept accommodations with nicely appointed touches in every room. A huge open living space upstairs that includes the kitchen, dining room, living room, and play area allowing large numbers to congregate comfortably together. Gorgeous master suites. One can tell when you arrive that it is not only a rental but a home. There is a large family/game room downstairs that's fun to spend time in, too. It's minutes from Lake Sunapee and amazing views. Don't pass this one up! Hopefully, we'll be going back again next year. Just as lovely is the beautifully managed B&B located just next door, Sunapee View B&B, in case you should have family overflow. Linda (the rental owner's mother) and her husband George have done wonders in renovating an old farm house into a charming, hospitable and relaxing inn. Everything has been chosen with an eye toward beauty and pampered indulgence. Linda is an excellent cook and the hearty breakfasts were beautifully presented and tasted out of this world. Can you tell we had a good time? Okay, 'nuf said. Do some research and go!
