"The room was beautiful, the best hotel we stayed at in Japan. There was a private onsen in the suite. The massage chair seemed old and not in keeping with the high quality of everything else. Definitely would highly recommend"

"The food, atmosphere, and super friendly staff definitely make this place to return to. Staff was always friendly and very, very accommodating even with our limited Japanese vocabulary. Definitely the highlight of our trip for sure!"
"Really good value for money, Japan accommodation is not cheap. this was very good for our family. Private Onsen is a nice touch too. Definitely recommend."
"This was a great hotel for an overnight in Nikko. Private bathroom in our room with stocked bathroom amenities, large comfy bed for two with a little table and chairs plus a delish breakfast buffet. After a day of sightseeing we enjoyed the Baths. "

Lovely small town with some cute shops and great food! Very walkable and close to plenty of shrines. I highly recommend getting the bus pass (you can get it thru the Nikko travel office at train station)

Much more to do here than we had thought! Fun outdoors activities, historical landmarks, fun shopping! Probably better in the summer (we were here in late March and it snowed).

The bus is about 45 mins from Nikko station to Chuzenji. It's a windy road, but pretty. Kinugawa isn't too far and you can go rafting or canyoning.

While Nikko and the surrounding area is known for extended hiking trails, we only stayed one night so we did not experience this. Things are pretty quiet in Nikko after 8:00pm so consider that if you're arriving late.

I recommend having a car for Nikko. Things are spread out. The mass transit isn't that frequent. It is a beautiful area but having a car would make it an easier trip.

Get 4 day wider area travel pass as its much better value than 2 day world heritage pass if you want to see waterfalls etc - and we were only there for c 44hrs

First trip to Japan. Of the 20 days spent Nikko was probably our most memorable. Area was lovely at the end of winter.

We were able to walk to the world heritage area and see all the amazing history and buildings. A must do from Tokyo.

"This is a wonderful property situated along the banks of the Otani River in Nikko. It’s a short ride from either of the two train stations in Nikko, and right across the road from the major cultural attractions of the city.
I selected one of their premium rooms that included a private rotenburo tub that is on the “balcony” that overlooks the flowing river. It was well worth the investment! The room was hugely spacious, well appointed and clean.
The staff was welcoming and extremely gracious from start to finish. The meals (breakfast and dinner are inclusive with the “half board” booking) were outstanding, using seasonal ingredients and renown locally produced items. They are prepared and presented in the classic Japanese style.
The location is incredibly convenient. I was able to walk over to the attractions, spend as much time there without rushing, and come back to the room to rest and refresh. The main road of the city is also an easy walk, and is lined with many quaint shops and restaurants.
The property is friendly for non-Japanese speakers, and who would like to respectfully experience a the charm and tradition of staying at a Japanese “inn”."
"Im glad i booked a room with outdoor hot tub. I loved japanese rooms that consist of spacious view side and tatami floor; my room had split toilet and shower stall as well, which is massive plus bc i dislike UnitBath system. Lounge access was great with local specialty beverages and snacks. The premise has so many retails and entertainment places. The buffet offered wide varieties that went beyond my expectations. Overall, one if the best establishments in Kinugawa. The outdoor bath on the highest floor was massive plus. "
"This is modernized facility that offers so many services and events on site. I enjoyed dining services on specific hours, and structures of this facility were astonishingly beautiful.
My only issue was that the Japanese-western style room that i booked had mediocre view from window that kinda ruined the value of money. "
