Iain and his family have a beautiful property just outside of Oban. We enjoyed exploring Oban, but really enjoyed hanging out on the property in the sunshine. The cottage was perfect for our family.
Four friends had a lovely stay here. There could have been a couple of extra mugs in the cottage but we had a great stay overall.

Very Nice place to stay for more than one night. Quiet and lovely area.
The only problèm We had is there was no towels in the cottage and We did not see this when booking...
Amazing hospitality from the initial phonecall on the morning of out arrival to our departure. The Garden Suite had everything we could have needed for our self catering stay, and it was spotless. Definitely recommend if visiting Oban. Also ate in the restaurant next door which was lovely.
We booked this on the basis of its 4 star rating and the reviews. On arriving we were met by an elderly man who took us to what he thought was our accommodation. We were not sure it was but some parts of it convinced us that we were in the right place. The kitchen worktops were crumby and sticky. The cloth was old and stale. I found some antibacterial wipes and started to clean while my husband brought the bags in. The toilet smelled of urine and there was no hand wash. The shower cubicle was small and grubby. The bedding was clean but the rooms smelled of damp and the towels smelled rancid. The sofas were not inviting to sit on. Then we saw the dust on the furniture and decided at that point that we could not stay there. When we got home we emailed the owner explaining this and that her only recourse would be to refund our money but got no reply or apology. The previous 3 nights we spent in a b&b of the same rating but it was beautiful, spotless and covid aware. The contrast between that one and Hawthorn was night and day.
A very well located property, within walking distance from the main town & the Inverness Castle.
The rooms are a bit small and we got stuck with a shared bath - which was a surprise for such an expensive property! But the facilities are well maintained and hygienic.
Es una casita individual, nos tocó la garden gold, completamente equipada con plaza de parking en la puerta. El lugar es precioso y bien cuidado. Los dueños encantadores. Ideal para familia de 4.
We stayed 3 nights in the Garden Cottage, which had lots of room for our family of four including a kitchen and living area. The hosts were lovely people, it was quiet and peaceful, there were sheep and highland cattle they keep right outside. There was a nice little restaurant on site with good food too!
The location of the cottage is fantastic. Very friendly hosts and the other guests were brilliant too. A fantastic night and will be sure to come back.
- Beautiful rural location, within a 30 metres of a Michelin Guide placed restaurant
- Very warm hosts (for the most part)
- Suite rather than a room with separate sofa area, and small shower & toilet room
- It's somebody's home rather than a hotel or an inn. This surprised more than one of us, guests there
- The hosts are very traditional: so don't check in late (after 10) or expect, like me, to have to get hotels.com to call the hosts to open the door, and then, by way of welcome, be asked to explain oneself
- Thin walls: you can hear your neighbours, and no doubt, be heard
Booked last minuet, the location is lovely with animals in the field, had the window open all night and diddnt hear a thing. The owners are lovely and very friendly. Good breakfast in the morning and what looked to be a small resteraunt nextdoor but i diddnt use it as its only a 15 min drive from Oban and wanted to try the fish and chips.
