“Looks grand from the outside and reception, with beautiful grounds. It’s dated. Very dated! We booked the cheapest room so walked a few miles in corridors getting lost in lifts that only go to certain rooms and then a stairwell that was really smelly. We had drinks in the bar, asked for coke was given Pepsi without being asked if I was ok with that and then the £4 small bowl of fries was literally cold. No need to return. ”

“Good property, pub and cafe in ground floor. So don’t have to go far for drink and food. ”

“The hotel its self is really modern and well presented but we had an issue with some sort of bug in our room/bed . Both my husband and myself were bitten quite a lot . The staff were really helpful and apologetic and were just waiting to hear back from them regarding this issue”

“It was perfectly situated in the centre of Holmfirth with easy parking individual to your stay. The staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful. Our room and ensuite were stunning”

“Used the restaurant twice. Service was very slow. As a result breakfast was like warm for both of us with different menus. Probably the food was standing waiting to be served.”

“Room was ok . Dull dark decor and v small television. Table light worked but wonky and carpet threadbare in some areas . Clean . Check in was not very welcoming , lady seemed rushed and no pleasantries . Asked for more milk which didn’t get . Meal in the evening was good . Sticky toffee sauce was more like weak caramel. Decided not to stay the night so returned home so can’t comment on breakfast. Staff serving meal v good . ”

“Clean but dated room. Had trouble with noisy neighbours and the night porter tried to sort it but wasnt to be....however the manageress Gillian was great sorting a free replacement stay. ”

“Great location, centrally located in the centre of Holmfirth. Lovely clean room, comfortable bed and a great Full English breakfast. I can highly recommend staying here, would happily stay again. Stones throw from great pubs and The Picturedrome.”

“Continental breakfast was good and staff were very helpful. The rooms are a bit outdated, stayed in a double room on the ground floor. And they do need to dust the furniture in the room. Bathroom was modern looking and clean like it had a refurbishment. Staying on the ground floor was a bit noisy at times with doors closing etc and hearing the bar and staff entrance door opening and closing. Overall good values for money and nice to have Co-op and Tesco nearby. Plus the Italian restaurant……

“Had really good stay, was there for 6 nights, food was lovely, staff really polite and helpful, our room was clean, very comfortable, only thing was the creaking doors early on a morning but that doesn't really affect the quality of stay, overall we had a really nice break away. 100% would recommend staying here if looking for somewhere in pontefract to stay”
