Perfect and comfortable 1-night stay enroute from LHR to Penzance. Very short walk from train station. Lots of coffee shops and Bill’s for breakfast. Cosy room #24. Super quiet. Comfy firm mattress. Staff very pleasant. One word of caution: we found the shower and bathroom floor slippery when wet. Also, while the room has a thoughtful natural light feature, there are no outside facing windows (I imagine it’s like the inside cabin on a ship)

The Market House has very nice employees that will hold your luggage pre and post stay and even deliver to your room. The hotel is very close to the city center. Otherwise, nothing special. Just an average hotel room. Note: You will need to sign a waver releasing them from responsibility in case of fire as there are no functioning windows.

I booked this hotel based on the great reviews and, for the most part, they were accurate. Unfortunately, one fairly fundamental issue seriously affected my stay: the shower was stone cold. I waited patiently for the water to heat up, but eventually had to give up. I literally could not have a shower. By that point, I had wasted so much time waiting that I had to rush to make my pre-booked taxi, so I had no opportunity to raise it with reception before leaving. The room itself was basic, which I was expecting given this is a budget hotel. I was travelling alone, although I was surprised that the bed was not what I would consider a proper double. On the positive side, I ate in the bar/lounge and the food was perfectly good for the type of hotel. The staff I met were also friendly and helpful. Had the shower been working properly, I would have been satisfied with my stay. Unfortunately, having reliable hot water is a basic expectation for any hotel, regardless of price, and for that reason I would not book again
