“Staff were lovely and inviting. Room was clean and comfortable. This hotel and restaurant combination is safe, friendly, comfortable, and relaxing. Beautiful beach is very close walk. ”

“Good A/C, nice sized room. Appreciated the "larger" mini frudge and coffee maker in the room. Very helpful woth local resources and advice on best travel routes. Got to see a mother howler monkey nursing her baby in the tree just adjacent to the room. Room walls are concrete, so couldn't hear anything from adjacent rooms. Much more serene atmosphere than the hectic pace and crowds in Nosara and Guiones beach areas. Would definitely stay again. Thank you, Louie for wonderful hospitality.”

“We had a horrible experience before coming to this place so we were extraordinarily happy to find a clean location. This place is brand new so it’s very clean and wonderful. The only thing I would say is that if you’re planning a big visit to Tamarindo stay at this place in 2027 and check that the construction is finished. They are currently building a club and pool area on the beach across from the rooms that we stayed at. If you stay before 2027 and you want a pool, they are offering for you……

“While the staff was amazing and the property was very beautiful, the roads to get to the hotel were not paved. Not only were they not paved but at some point they (local government) closed the entrance and no one was notified. It took me contacting the hotel so the concierge could walk us through how to get to the hotel. It was not until two days later when I complained that we received a letter and a map. This was not well planned with the city. Very disappointing.”

“The Sunset Shack was fantastic for our family trip to Nosara. The beach is super close, and the town is very cute. We were right in the middle of it all. Monkeys in the mango trees on the property in the morning, and iguanas roaming all day. The food, the staff, and the hotel itself were all 5 stars! We would love to return to Nosara, and would not stay anywhere else. Thank you Sunset Shack!”

“Comfortable place. Two beds in the room, that was unexpected. Nice. Staff need to be more attentive when . Serving and at the bar. But free breakfast was very good. Great beach, one of the best I have been in Costa Rica. Affordable. I don’t know if they have any beach chairs, I didn’t asked. There are none available at the beach except for the next door resort which they don’t rent. There are different activities offered by other businesses.”

“The staff were accommodating and always willing to help. Our room was lovely and as advertised online. Clean, comfortable, and quiet. The pools were wonderful and our spa experience was extremely positive. Overall good value for dollar. Our only complaint would be the cost of a poolside drink - it was wild!”

“The ocean was not really accessible, too many rocks. Most of the staff was not friendly especially at the buffet restaurant. The food wasn't that great, there weren't that many options. The nightly shows weren't that entertaining. They had a pool bar next to the pool but you couldn't access the bar if you were wet. Don't see the point of a pool bar if you can't get to it. We saw vomit in the pool and no one came to clean it. After an hour we told someone else and the pool guy just dismissed us……

“There is a lot to share about our experience. Our family of four booked this hotel for three nights to relax after some earlier adventures. Unfortunately we got some pretty terrible weather. We were the only ones staying on the property for the majority of our stay. In the high season they have a guard station and a restaurant. In the low season they are not fully staffed. They gave us a lovely room and the staff we met were kind and friendly. They provided breakfast daily. The pool was……
