From start to finish, the team went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and taken care of. Cecilia, in particular, was amazing. When we ran into an issue with a driver pickup, she stepped in and handled it with genuine care and professionalism. She went above and beyond to make things right, and it turned what could have been a frustrating moment into one of the best……

“Superbe emplacement avec une vue imprenable sur le Douro — tout simplement magnifique. Les chambres ainsi que les espaces partagés sont immaculés. On a vraiment l’impression d’être dans un petit B&B chaleureux plutôt que dans un grand hôtel, ce qui rend l’expérience très conviviale et reposante. L’endroit est aussi très bien situé, à environ 15 minutes en voiture de Peso da Régua, où l’on trouve plusieurs excellents petits restaurants. Petit point à considérer : notre chambre avait une salle……

“Beautiful property, well maintained and peaceful grounds to relax in. Excellent breakfast, items were fresh and delicious. My only complaint is that there was a slight musty odor and no hair dryer in the room. Otherwise I would definitely stay here again.”

“We had a wonderful stay here! The location is convenient for winery hopping in the Douro Valley and the view into the valley is spectacular. It is very near a little town (Armamar) that had several delicious restaurants. The breakfast buffet was excellent, and the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. We highly recommend their wine tasting with the cheese/charcuterie platter accompaniment - it was the perfect way to start our stay in the Douro when we checked in!”

“We are a family of 5 with 3 kids under 12. We visited in March and it was very quiet/serene. Portovella has a beautiful view of the Douro. Riverside walk is just several steps down a hill. Photos don’t do it justice because it is so breathtaking in person. The comfort suite was the perfect size with 2 bathroom ensuites and a powder room. View from the suite was incredible. Just plan ahead if you’re staying on a Sunday as many restaurants were closed but we found a gem in Cinfaes - Sabores e……

“El lugar es hermoso y romántico. El servicio es excelente. Los cuartos y las vistas maravillosas. El desayuno incluido es excepcional. El bar que tienen tiene todo tipo de bebidas y comidas riquísimas con una vista al río bella. Las toallas y las sábanas del cuarto están perfumadas. Tiene estacionamiento libre de costo dentro de la propiedad. Se respira paz. Tiene una piscina infinity y un jacuzzi que puedes reservar para usarlo en privado. Todo fue perfecto.”

“The staff here, aside from the lovely man in the dining room for breakfast , were minimalist at best. The front desk staff were well below par. The hotel is pretty basic and the town itself doesn’t have a lot to offer - look elsewhere for a Douro experience unless you want to see the church stairs.”
