After an awkward minute on the phone they hung up, but a few minutes later I finally got instructions on how to get inside. "First of all the location on Google maps is the restaurant that the owners run and not yours accommodation so it's important when you book to follow their joining instructions. The owners are very friendly and helpful, giving you a quick brief on all there is to see and do in jiufen before taking you to your place. Mine was about 5 mins away and only a couple of minutes uphill walk to old street. The room also has a stunning view from the bedroom. They deliver a small but good breakfast to you...

It was like staying in a hidden four star hotel with a modern clean room, free fully stocked mini bar, great view of the ocean, and friendly staff. Very easy to get to, and so conveniently located to explore the lantern alleys at night when the tourist have all left. We were able to get the full experience of Studio Ghibli' Spirited Away thanks to this hotel."

"This was such a great place to stay. We had the family room for 3 adults. The view was AMAZING as was the hospitality!! It was in a fantastic location just a couple of minutes to the 7eleven and old street but so peaceful. The space was great with a huge lounge area, dining table and crockery and cutlery for self catering (we got takeout from old street vendors and had dinner in the room. The beds were all king size and really comfortable with quality linen. The whole.place was very clean!!...
