“We loved our stay here for our first trip to Alaska! Chris met us there when we arrived late into the evening due to flight issues. The place was very accommodating and beautiful with a beautiful view! We saw moose and calves every night. One evening a bear came to visit while we were in the hot tub. “Worth it! Brilliant location. Feels like being directly out in nature, but all the amenities of home. Timeless memories of sitting on the front deck of our own log cabin in the woods taking in the sights, sounds and scents of the kenai bush. “We arrived late, so the office was closed, but it was still easy to find our cabin and navigate the property. We opened our window and fell asleep to the sounds from the creek behind our cabin. In the morning, we watched the ducks in the pond while we drank our coffee on the deck. The bathrooms and washrooms were spacious and clean. I wish we could have stayed longer. The grounds are really fun to explore all the way out to the beach. The scenery was amazing. “The location of the Bear Necessities cottages is rural and quiet, yet close to town. Our cottage, though small, was clean and comfortable with a good shower. There is no air-conditioning, which is typical in Alaska. Heat was provided by a diesel heater. This was a little unusual, but we got used to it and it worked fine. No complaints. Would easily stay here again.”

“We like everything about this property! We travel extensively and I really believe this host offered the “little” details possible. A small candy dish, a booklet full of local information, soft towels, make up towels, nice shower heads, coffee products, etc…. We enjoyed the balcony, recliners and soft bed. Nearby float planes coming and going did make noise that could bother some, but we know those sounds are the price of adventure for others, overall this is a great place to stay!”
