I guess I am going to be the contrarian in the reviews and suggest that interested parties look closely at the photos and information in their selection process. The unit looked nice in a cursory viewing of the photos but it is tiny and basically unlivable for a group of 4 adults. It is in a great location and if you are a guy looking to relive your college freshman days it is probably nice. Very crowded with no indoor table that will reasonably seat 4 adults, no closet doors - just curtains held in place with galvanized pipes on eyelets with masking taped ends so as not to cut anyone, doors with some knobs working but only locking with screen door hooks, mobile home size range, refrigerator & microwave with the only usable counter space in two small patches on either side of the sink, a 3x3 curbed shower and apparently a little crusty spot in the middle of one of the bed spreads.
As a general contractor building new vacation rentals elsewhere in Florida I may be a bit picky. Just seems as if many in the online rental industry are taking the approach that “newly renovated” means doing the minimum work necessary and a coat of paint for good photos.
We had a 4 night rental but could only stay the night of our arrival because it was so bad and ended up getting another rental in town for the remaining 3 days at significant expense but it saved our trip.
The owners did note in response to my email complaint that the layout and kitchen amenities were as shown in the picture which is true, just be careful to note the wide angle lens which makes a normal size door in the pictures look like a garage door. They also noted that the retro style was an "intended amenity". So if your desire is to go back to your youth and vacation, for a few hundred dollars per night in your first "pad" with cheap silk flowers and metal nesting tables for your friends and you to eat frozen dinners while watching football, then you will be in heaven.
To close, as noted above, this place gets high reviews from others so maybe our vision of retro is a well kept bungalow from the 20s and not the lifestyle we lived in our 20s. You will have to decide if you want that much retro for your hard earned dollars.
