I chose this hotel because it was close to Huashan Creative Park, and it turns out the hotel is actually part of the park, displaying artwork in their lobby. It’s a remodeled bank/warehouse, and you see that reflected in their mascot “Baobby” (which translates to “Treasure-y”) and the gold theme that is part of their decor. When we arrived we got tickets for a welcome drink (to be redeemed in their cafe), where you can choose from a variety of cocktails, mocktails, and caffeinated drinks. They also give you some bags to fill with traditional Chinese sweets (most of which are not great, IMO, but it’s cute and cultural and kids will eat anything). When we were getting candy, someone on staff came by and noticed a lot of the bins were empty and refilled them.
The beds were comfortable and the hotel rooms seemed clean. I stored some things on a shelf above the TV and noticed there wasn’t any dust there—which is unusually good for a hotel. The cleaning staff seemed friendly. My only complaints are that the area can be a little noisy—but that’s the area, not the hotel—and that an unpleasant smell came from the shower drain sometimes.
Overall, I highly recommend this hotel. It’s the same price as a more standard hotel, but the attentiveness of the staff makes it more welcoming and the design of the hotel makes it a unique experience.
