You can wandered to the face of Fox Glacier. It was probably the one of the sadder places we've been to since coming to New Zealand. It has started receding since 2009. From January 2014-January 2015 it receded 300 metres. You could walk right onto it in 1935 💔
Waterfalls on the way to Franz Josef Glacier
Whilst driving in the early frosty morning in June on the final leg of our road trip around New Zealands South Island, we spotted a flash of Lake Mapourika through a little open space in the trees. We had to turn around to check it out, and were treated to a beautiful view of the morning mist rising from the lake.
