We slept well and the area is stunning. Don't expect to be greeted by staff, there ain't none Don't expect clean running water, there ain't none Don't expect a kettle in the room, there ain't one Do expect exceptional surroundings and wildlife Do expect a stunning drive to get there I have almost persuaded myself to return!!!!!

Throughly enjoyed out stay here, the surrounding scenery was beautiful,and we spent some time watching the birds of prey patrolling the grounds, our room was very cosy and had everything we needed the hotel was only a short drive to nature eslks snd the peir bar and restaurant which we highly recommend, all in all a very enjoyable 2 nights stay we Will definitely be back

Pro: A beautiful historic building with a grand stair entrance and sky lights. Some rooms even have bed canopies. Comfortable bed, warm water and heating that you can adjust not much to complain about. Loved the contactless check in. Private showers, linen and towels included as well as free parking. Access to a shared full kitchen. Con: The building is beautiful but old and in need of some upkeep. It is a bit disheartening to see that some of the fixes had a strong DIY feel.

Great stay in the nature

Perfect stay at the falls. The overall location is faithful to the offer. the room was perfect. Also, the common places were great: living room with games, and pool.

Vaut le prix payé, mais pas plus...

De l'extérieur, la maison est superbe. Une fois à l'intérieur, on se rend compte qu'il y a besoin d'un rafraîchissement. Arrivés dans la chambre, on déchante un peu... Le lit est petit, pas très confortable et la salle de bain est d'un autre âge. La chasse d'eau est très longue, et la douche n'est pas si simple que ça a utiliser. Dans l'annonce, il était signalé "café et viennoiseries tous les matins". Ok pour le café, et le thé à prendre dans la cuisine, mais nous n'avons eu les viennoiseries (pain au chocolat et croissants industriels) que pour le premier matin. Pour le côté industriel, on s'y attendait, mais on aurait au moins aimé les avoir pour les deux jours. Petit plus quand même, c'est très calme et la cuisine mise a disposition est bien pratique.

Lovely spot in the Scottish Highlands. Lovely old home with many rooms. Our en-suite room was very clean, comfortable and heated! Would recommend staying.

Schwer zu finden, im Navi existierte die Straße nicht. Wlan war mit pass angegeben oder keinen Hotspot gefunden, mobiles Internet gab es nur sehr schwach in einer Ecke des Zimmers. Küche war auch angegeben, aber nur eine Mikrowelle, Toaster und Wasserkocher gefunden, stehen im Flur. Kein TV. Kein Personal vor Ort.

We enjoyed our stay at Aultnagar very much. The room was huge, clean and sumptuous befitting the estate. The kitchenette handy and adequate (all communicated beforehand). Looks like the property will be going through renovations but there were no works to disrupt our stay. The entrance, halls and rooms were already beautifully renovated.

Very lovely room with view overlooking forest. Self-catering, but staff had provided welcome basket with enough rolls etc. for solid breakfast. Kitchen has fridge, 4-pit electric cooker and several ovens so any kind of meal can be prepared here. The building is a former lodge of Andrew Carnegie and I had a spacious room with four-poster bed and couches near the window overlooking the forest. Signposting could be a little bit better.

This summer getaway for Andrew Carnegie and his family was a unique experience for us and a quiet respite amid the highland landscape. On first impressions the building on the outside has lost some of its luster but the inside is slowly being returned to its original old world craftsmanship. The rooms are clean and comfortable and after that long walk or bike ride a nice place to recoup. We enjoyed staying and feeling a little of this history surround us and can now add rubbing shoulders with Andrew Carnegie's ghost to our travel story.

There is nothing nearby, must buy something to eat before you get there. And there is no hairdryer provided. But the building is beautiful and the kitchen have a good view of sunset.
