Secluded and Exceptional Host

The property is very secluded away from everything, but that what we were looking for. It is exactly as described. The Casita has a spectacular view. The host was very responsive. They were promptly answered our questions, even at 11pm.

The properties were neat and clean and very well stocked with bedding, linens, dishes, pots and pans, etc. We took advantage of the game room each night after long days hiking at Big Bend or at the 400 acres. I never had to contact the host because we really didn’t have any issues. Booking was super easy, the directions and instructions the host gave us were very helpful and easy and spot on. They were very friendly in the emails before, during, and after our week being there. We definitely will come back again and I’ve already recommended the host and place to a couple friends before I even got home. Thank you Janet and Daryl (Big Bend Vacation Rentals) for making this a stress free adventure for us.

Another shot in the game room. I had some pictures of the inside of the house but they had family members in them and they are shy..lol.

Rustic & spacious getaway spot

Overall, we enjoyed staying on the property and the owner was always responsive to needs. There is tons of space outside just a living room - the adjacent "game room," covered porch, separate Casita (10 minute walk or 3 minutes in car - perfect for our college age sons). Our kids enjoyed the space for games. We appreciated the grill. There are two things i would advise guests to consider based on your needs and preferences: One, it is an out of the way spot with a good 20 min or so unpaved portion of the road. Two, have the mindset of glamping. You will have space, running water, bathrooms, electricity, stove, fridge, washer, dryer - but there will also likely be some visiting critters, occasional lower water pressure, and odors (there was an unpleasant smell that was no problem for some of us, and bothered others). I think these factors are related to being in a more rustic setting and are manageable if you are prepared for it. We drove in Presidio to Terlingua as it's an incredibly scenic drive. We got groceries in Alpine as suggested and then drove into Big Bend on two days - one to do the scenic drive and several shorter hikes, and one to visit the Chisos Basin area and do a little more hiking. It was a great trip, but the park itself is also a lot of driving.
