“When I booked for myself and grandson six ,I wasn't made aware that our "hotel room" was just a block of rooms at the bottom of a road near the entrance. These were unmanned and the key had to be collected from the main reception. This is no easy fete when there's a very steep long hill to walk up to reception. I was told our room was ready,we went down to it,expecting staff to meet us. None were there. So I and my little grandson had to walk back up to reception with a suitcase and rucksacks……

“Considering this was supposed to be a 4 star Radisson hotel, we were bitterley disappointed, the bed had springs that dug into your back, the sink in the bathroom was chipped and cracked, food overpriced, the sash window wouldnt open, water marks on the wall as well as a large crack down the wall, very very poor, the pool is always laned off and you have to wear a swim cap, not thequality id expect, we left after one night”

“Brilliant location! Hotel could do with some TLC but don’t let this put you off! Mould in bathroom, but that was ok as only there for 1 night. Chocolates and slippers were a lovely touch. Nice quiet room - no complaints !”

“What beautiful property this is the grounds are very lovely and peaceful with gardens that are very well maintained, the rooms are just perfect, comfortable, clean cozy, the staff are brilliant helpful warm and nothing is too much for them. Would highly recommend staying and the restaurant is just brilliant great menu without the massive price tag food and choices are great. The breakfast is also fantastic and included in the room price.”

“A hotel with a lot of character and history, with beautiful gardens and rural location. Breakfast was great; the room 23 was more than comfortable with all essentials. A very good value stay.”

“Everything about the stay, the room, staff, cleanliness were excellent. The evening meal was also very good and well priced. They only small remark is lack of options for the evening meal, however as noted we really enjoyed what we had. The thing that was not up to scratch I am sorry to say was the full English cooked breakfast. Not very generous. Sausage and beans cold, had to send back. When returned they were hit but the rest had gone cold. The sausage was vile. Genuinely Sorry to report……

“Lovely Grade 2 building so the rooms are slightly quirky, but that is its charm. Do not expect crisp clean lines and perfectly level floors, but be prepared for a place you can comfortably relax into.”

“Friendly staff Good breakfast Stairs may be a problem if elderly .Found shower cubicle to be difficult to get in and out also no non slip surface in shower which made it a bit dangerous getting out”

“Excellent warm welcome at checkin. Plenty of free parking. Food reasonably priced and presented. Rooms were excellent, very clean and modern. Very quiet and good quality blackout curtains. Followed with a delicious breakfast all orderable so no buffet. Great affordable stay. Only downside is nothing in area but that wasn’t needed”

“Overall, very positive. I'll come on to the Good Stuff in a bit, but first... When I arrived (at the time I said I would when booking) the hotel door was locked and it looked deserted. I called the number I found for it on Google, and a harassed sounding woman said I should have received a message telling me how to get in. (I had received many messages from Expedia claiming to be from the hotel, but all were blank. This is almost certainly a problem with Expedia, not the hotel itself.) She came……

“Very disappointing stay. The room I booked was already occupied when I arrived. I was moved to a smaller room that did not match what I paid for three people, and my children had to find accommodation elsewhere. The place was not very clean and had an unpleasant smell. The kitchen was dirty. I did not even wait for breakfast. I chcked out very early in the morning.”
