  • This spot is a pleasant place for a stroll around some well maintained paths although it’s not particularly extensive. There’s a pond which can attracts birdlife although with changing times it’s regressing to more of a prairie with occasional water and increasing vegetation due to natural silt intrusion. What is delightful about the preserve is the fact that it’s a little off the beaten path and therefore is not overly crowded while existing undeveloped next to a small shopping mall, car dealership and regular suburban homes. And it continues to be looked after by enthusiastic community volunteers.

The location was great for our family get together. The hotel is a bit worn. The room could have been a little cleaner. Dusty in some areas. Comfortable bed. Breakfast was mediocre. There was apparently a problem in the kitchen on the Sunday we were there. Front desk staff were very friendly.

Amazing experience. Staff was empathetic and kind and went over and beyond to make our stay comfortable, especially Kim at the front desk. This was a difficult time for my family and I’m so very grateful for this comforting experience.

Inaccurate pricing

While the check-in, hotel, room, and breakfast were all great, the hotel charged $15 for parking even though multiple places on Hotels.com states that it is free. Parking in this part of Decatur is not challenging and should not come with a fee.

If you book a wheelchair access room then the kitchen, counters in the bathroom should be accessible to wheelchair bound person. Also the shower bench is incredibly small. This room really doesn't meet the needs of someone who's handicapped. Other than the reasons above the staff were very friendly and the facility is clean. The area outside has its share of sketchy people who use the benches outside and are not guests.

I’m disappointed with ho the property has slipped since we started staying a few years ago. No bar or lounger service even though indicated as such on property description. Used to have coffee available all day - no more. Flavored water not available consistently. The items in the store were very limited. On weekends no real silver ware and some of food was packaged and not fresh. Staff is nice enough, but when I pay $300 or so per night I expect more. Location is great for my needs but hotel is slipping. Marriott can do better

Breakfast needs improvement, they served ready to heat sandwiches and quiche. It’s better if they could’ve served scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, and tater tots or hashbrowns in chaffing dishes. These would be enjoyable to eat in the mornings! Rooms are great, but being a pet friendly hotel, they need to a separate and dedicated floor or area for them, because they interfered with my sleep. The constant barking of dogs interfered with my sleep.
