"The name Grand does not really match the actual hotel, bit dated, however our room was amazing and huge with a sea view so can’t complain! One of the drawers in the bedroom did have someone’s clothes left there and everywhere needed a good dust though … Reception and bar staff didn’t seem to like their jobs very much. Breakfast was nice however lack of tables meant it was tricky to find seats. For the price we paid it was fine, but probably won’t go back here in a hurry"
The Imperial Hotel

"Lovely old hotel in a great location with a Sean view out the front and tram stop virtually on the doorstep. We only stayed b+b but the food we had was really nice. A bit chaotic at breakfast time but it is a large hotel and they do warn you about peak times so you're you know what to expect in advance. The room was comfortable. Nice clean beds and bathroom but there were 2 items of rubbish on the floor (a sweet wrapper and a golden egg from the arcade) which were there for the duration of the stay. However, the staff were lovely, very polite and helpful if needed (we didn't need them but saw other guests that did and they were great with them). I think my only slight criticism would be that you were left waiting at the bar alot. They could see you standing there but carried on cleaning or filling fridges. Don't get me wrong, as someone who has worked in a few bars, I know these things need to be done but if you have people waiting, you either serve them or at least acknowledge them and let them know you will be with them ASAP which they didn't do. Oh and for information, there is parking at the hotel but it is £14 a day and you have to register on the machine at reception and fill in the paperwork too. Anyway, overall, I've left what I think is my honest review. It's a good hotel in a great location and yes, I would absolutely stay here again."

"The hotel is in a great position and we had a wonderful room overlooking Lake Windermere it was therefore handy for the facilities of Bowness, ALL the staff were friendly and very helpful, with a special mention to Phil and Ali, our only criticism is that the bar does not have enough variety of draught beers/lagers. I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel."

"Very courteous and helpful staff. Excellent bar and dining areas. Clean and tidy throughout. My room wasn't cleaned on one day but not a major problem and easy to get the tea bags replenished from reception. Although I was aware when I made my booking, it was bit annoying having to leave a £150 tab on my credit card at check in, especially as I was paying for 3 rooms, so £450.00!!! a bit unnerving, but no charge was ultimately taken as fortunately my friends behave themselves. I assume that the hotel has experienced problems with troublesome guests in the past. Would definitely stay again."

Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa

"Great location Very good staff. The Winander section has its own very helpful staff and breakfast with great views. The room we had was a very spacious and well designed. My only comment was a shaving mirror would have been useful given the distance to the actual mirror. The spa access for hotel Guests was somewhat more limited than expected and the outdoor areas were completely separate and require extra payment. What is left in the swimming pool area is a little bit more limited than similar properties in the area we have tried."
