Debbora is an amazing host - fantastic communication and she has thought of so many things to ensure your stay is perfect and comfortable.
As others have said, all you really need is your personal belongings.
I booked this location as I was looking for a retreat from the demands of daily life and it did not disappoint.
I loved stepping out of the yurt to the rolling hills and sunrise. Just sitting enjoying a brew whilst soaking in all my beautiful surroundings and listening to the different creatures that surrounded us.
It was pure bliss for me and my partner - sadly not the same for our teenagers who live for connectivity on their phones as the signal is extremely patchy round there (I personally thought it was a good thing).
We built up a good relationship with the chickens and gave them all nicknames quite early on- they were incredibly tame and a good distraction from our own animals.
There is an outdoor undercover dining area with fantastic camping gas cooker/hob so you can create meals if you wish as well as the outdoor fire pit (due to the severe drought we didn’t use this as we didn’t want to risk causing a forest fire).
The bathroom was very spacious with a welcomed walk in shower with instant hot water.
The Yurt itself was rather spacious, quaint and cosey with plenty of lanterns but we added some solar lights to give a bit of assistance for the night time visits.
The village of Blakeney was about a mile away and we walked their a couple of times but be warned this area is incredibly hilly 😊 it’s certainly a good cardio workout around this area.
It’s such a picturesque place with so much on your doorstep to chose from - from shopping to sight seeing. We used the local transportation quite a bit with no issues.
Personally I would love to return but our teenagers disagree with my love of nature and peace.
We had a couple of nights at the cosy yurt and thoroughly enjoyed it. With no wifi or mobile signal, it was a welcome break for this family and we sat around the outdoor firepit of an evening, bbq-ing and hanging out. Kids loved the hammock, and the nearby forest had a great ropeswing, enjoyed by all of us! Debbora was very helpful and communicative during booking and met us shortly after we arrived, to say hello, and then left us to it. The woodburner is very efficient and I might have gotten a bit carried away one night, when we had to leave the front door open as it was very warm, so no worries about being too cold! Debbora set up a fireguard around the woodburner as well, for child safety. Definitely recommend this as a base for exploring the Forest of Dean and for disconnecting from work and technology.
