This is beautiful Bolton Abbey in Wharfedale at the foot of the Yorkshire Dales. The now ruined abbey was founded in 1154 but dissolved by Henry VIII in 1539. Dare to cross the sixty stepping stones to cross the river but beware of the Strid with its dangerous eddies of water.

“The attention to detail is so lovely. Everyone was really helpful and we enjoyed the food, the surroundings and the spa. A really beautiful getaway. The female members of staff had to put up with a pretty misogynistic guest while we were there (which we witnessed at breakfast) and they kept their cool and handled his rudeness with grace and patience. A lot of friendly professionals work here and you can see they put love into their work! ”

“This is a lovely quaint, quiet country inn/accomodation, which is on its way to be something special. The welcome, cust service and food were top notch. The owners have just recently taken over and you can see how wonderful this place is going to be, with everything being made future proof. They are updating it whilst still providing a wonderful experience. It’s also dog friendly in the bedrooms too (with beds and snacks for your K9 friend). I will definitely be going back. “Host Debbie was very welcoming, the room was very clean and the bed linen very fresh. The room could do with a little TLC with a wonky toilet seat, shower door loose and the creeking floor boards that added character to the room.
