"We took our small dog and stayed in cabin 7. It was private and so cute! We had the hot tub and it was so warm and inviting. They provided all kitchen tools, and we had no problem cooking both nights, and used the bbq. The place was warmed by 2 heat pumps and there was a fireplace. The view is breathtaking. I plan to return in the summer to enjoy the beach and summer activities. A wonderful place to relax and enjoy a weekend, and not too far away from amenities. Well worth the drive and the...

"Overall we had a good experience. The bed was comfortable and recently renovated room was lovely. The attention to detail by cleaning staff, however could be improved. The counter was stained with food but never cleaned during our 3 night stay. Although new, the hallway/ doors could have used a cleaning as well. It would be a shame if the lack of maintenance damaged the new paint and wallpaper in the long term."

"Overall a comfortable stay at Hearthstone! It is an old-timey hotel, so don't expect anything fancy/updated! There is no ramp to the entrance so may pose an issue with those with mobility issues. Breakfast is tasty and offered during a reasonable time frame so that guests don't feel rushed to start their day. Although they advertise they have fitness facilities, the front desk noted they don't have one, and then corrected themselves noting it is out of order. However there is a wonderful larger lake you can run around just outside of the hotel, or two smaller lakes in the residential area nearby."

"Overall a comfortable stay in a business park/residential area of Halifax. Short driving distance to downtown Halifax and sightseeing locations, and close to the highway! Really nice and helpful staff. As an FYI, the fitness room is not as pictured on their website. They do not have much working equipment anymore; only dumbbells (one set of each ranging from 5 lbs to 30 lbs), a stationary (sitting only) bike, and some mats. However, there is a nice marsh area that's great for a quick 5km run if you do two loops before your day of exploring! It was a little noisy in terms of hearing guests talking and laughing at the elevator/in the hallway (long weekend maybe?), and a strange morning thumping sound in the walls starting at ~6:30 am as if they were doing some structural testing/something with the pipes. The rooms and beds themselves were clean and comfortable though!"

Coastal Inn Halifax

"We stayed at this inn for 5 days to explore the Halifax area. The convenient location was the best part. There were a few things that made our stay less enjoyable. The walls are very thin and we could hear noise from the hallway, outdoors and upper rooms. There was lots of noise from other guests in the early morning and late evening. The beds were not comfortable as they were too soft. The linens were old and pilling. They also did not make beds or change linens for the whole stay. The fitness room was closed the whole time and the pool was also closed for part of our stay. The breakfast was not very appealing. It was basically toast and a few small apples. Overall, I would not recommend or stay there again."
