Haven & home from home

The property is perfect for a stay for a couple with a dog. It was well equipped and was sufficiently furnished with wonderful views from the bedroom and living space. Being able to park up and just walk was our idea of heaven and loved the wildlife around & the tractors :). The owners left a cream tea on our arrival which was beautiful.

Good location for exploring on foot and in the car. If you are interested in history a walk to The Mott and Bailey Castle gives great views across the valley towards Duckpool Bay. The owners and their son were very friendly and helpful with local knowledge. The scones on arrival were also a nice touch as was the card and bottle of wine for my partner who's 50th birthday we celebrated whilst there. Cottage was well appointed with a good range of equipment and things like washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, kitchen roll etc were helpfully provided! Cottage is in a lovely valley and is very peaceful but you cannot walk to the local pub or shop in Kilkhampton as the roads are very narrow with no street lighting. Lots to explore in the local area and there is a 1.5 mile walk fom the cottage through fields and woods to the local beach at Duckpool which we enjoyed doing. Hosts were welcoming, would recommend. The cottage is situated out in the sticks with single lane road for access. Once there you will find peace and quiet in a lovely location. Susan greeted us on our arrival and gave us all the information we needed. It was in easy walking distance to the beach and some coastal walks. We wanted a holiday to enable us to unwind and Orchard Close and the location certainly gave us that. If you stay on the farm and have teenage children be aware there is no WiFi and little to no phone signal. This didn’t worry us and it was actually nice to be free of all the distractions being connected brings. Lovely secluded peaceful cottage, about a mile walk to duck pool bay through woods and a four mile walk to bude from duck-pool bay Quite hilly along the way but beautiful views The cottage is along a bumpy farm track but don’t let that spoil your holiday The owners are very helpful and couldn’t do enough for us Wouldn’t hesitate to book again there was nothing to complain about just a secluded cottage away from everyday life No WiFi though but didn’t bother us at all Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Superb setting.

Superb setting. Great welcome with Cornish cream tea..... Jam first then cream and I don't care.. 😊 Several walks so you can leave your car where it is.... The best is to Duck pool, very easy down, a little more up, up coming back.. But manageable, I'm 66 and a bad back... 😕 Very comfortable and warm even without the heating on. Lots of places to visit, Clovelly. Hartland Point and do not miss Hartland Quay, stunning. Bude itself is a real treasure.
