Such a nice stay, everything we need was there. The small stairs between the living. room and bedrooms are great. We had a wonderful time although the weather was typical scottish. We will come Back. Beth ist very nice.

Amazing authentic Scottish “home”
It’s hard to express how perfect our stay was at this residence -I’m not going into details about all the amenities, etc except to say the website description was perfect! What i am going to share is how relaxing, enjoyable it was—it exceeded our expectations! It’s a quaint quiet community-we loved walking to the co-op and bringing back food/snacks/wine and just relaxing after a day filled with exploring! There was a local pub where everyone was local and so friendly! We had tried since 2020 to visit Scotland and Beth was wonderful postponing and coordinating our delay year after year—i have shared this location with so many friends-if i could give it 1000 stars i would!

Fabulous Fife
Much more impressive in reality, very friendly people in the area and so much to see and do. Stunning scenery and historic areas. A real gem of a place with a great story of bringing this former town hall and jail back to life. Well done to all involved, a place we loved .

Fabulous, quirky building.
Excellent location for Edinburgh, St. Andrews and the East coast. There should be a mention of two flights of stairs to the living accommodation plus another two flights of stairs to the bedrooms , toilets and bathrooms if anyone has mobility problems.

Wonderful Experience
The property was exactly as advertised. The girls loved the round back staircase and the walled garden was wonderful on sunny days to sit and have a drink. The twenty foot high ceilings in the lounge and dining area never wore thin in ten days. The bedrooms were unique. If I had one criticism it would the same for every place we stay in Scotland. Coming from Canada the electrics are different as are the hobbs, cooktops, and washing machines. A little tutorial would be helpful. Would we stay again if coming to the area? Yes, Yes, and Yes again. Thank you for sharing such an old historical site!

Ideal for golfers
Plenty of room to store clubs in hall way. Location an hour from StAndrews or Gleneagles. But plenty of lovely courses near by, especially Kinghorn and Burnt Island. Good walks and great beaches.

Historic, comfortable and clean
Really enjoyed our stay in the historic town hall. Very clean, spacious, warm and comfortable. Keep in mind that There are stone Steps to the bedrooms and bathrooms for anyone with limited mobility. Lots of interesting information provided with regards the History of the property and surrounding area. It’s a Short 5min walk to the train station with easy links to Edinburgh. Lovely meal enjoyed at ‘The Ship’ Across the road, booking advisable. TV is easy to use and has all the current apps inc Apple TV you can log into which is great on the wetter days! St Andrews is approx 45minutes away by car and worth a visit. We also enjoyed a visit to the harbour towns of Crail and Pittenweem. Would recommend

Wohnung mit sehr viel Stil. Gute Ausstattung. Sehr einfacher und unkomplizierter Kontakt mit Beth. Sehr gute Lage: nur 5 Minuten zur Bahnstation - von dort kommt man in 45 Minuten direkt nach Edinburgh. Kleiner COOP direkt in der Nähe. Das Restazrant auf der anderen Straßenseite (Ship) ist emofehlenswert. Jederzeit wieder!

Very special location for a memorable stay.
This is truly a unique building with lots of character, very spacious and comfortable. Communication with Beth Bell was easy and everything worked fine. We loved the great hall and the main bedroom is special, too. The walled garden adds to the experience. Sometimes you feel like the owner of a tiny castle. Perfect for trips to Edinburgh by train, too. Yes, the seagulls are noisy and really like the place, but so did we.

The Perfect Home Away From Home
We stayed at the Kinghorn Town Hall June 22 - 30. The property was just as presented on VRBO. It has so much charm and character. There was plenty of room and I loved the back spiral staircase. The location in Kinghorn was perfect for travelling to Edinburgh, St. Andrews, Glasgow and other points by car and by train. We could walk to the Co-Op and Bakery for supplies and it was an easy drive to Kirkcaldy for grocery shopping. We had a delicious dinner at the Ship across the street. The apartment had all of the necessary amenities. We appreciated the loaf of bread, milk and bottle of wine that were waiting for us in the kitchen. The gas fire was perfect on the one chilly day during our stay. As another reviewer mentioned, the seagulls and other birds nesting on the roof could get loud, especially with the early sunrise and late sunset. Also, since there are no windows in the bedrooms, they got a little warm when the area experienced a bit of a heat wave. Overall it was a great place and I would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed staying at this property - it was really homely and also very well located, being both an easy distance to Edinburgh and the beautiful countryside and coast of Fife. We have two young children who were enchanted by the property, and it worked really well for a family.

Wir hatten eine schöne Zeit in Kinghorn und der Wohnung. Es sollte einem jedoch bewusst sein das es sich hierbei um ein historisches Objekt mit "Special Effects" handelt. Die Fenster sind sehr zugig, die Stühle hatten auch schon bessere Zeiten. Alles in allem hatten wir aber eine tolle Zeit und würden nochmal wieder kommen. Der Kontakt zu den Vermietern und der Housekeeperin war ausgezeichnet.

Nice stay in a character building
Long weekend stay with the family in a delightful building with plenty of charm and character. Great for exploring the Fife Region and with good links into Edinburgh where we spent a day. Will definitely return when weather is more summer like to see this fascinating part of Scotland.

Wonderful Home

Wir waren mit 5 Personen im Herbst zu Gast und hatten einen sehr angenehmen Aufenthalt. Insbesondere der komfortable und großzügige Wohnraum hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Der Kontakt zu der Verwaltung war unproblematisch und die Damen waren äußerst kompetent und hilfsbereit. Kinghorn is tals Ausgangspunkt für viele Ausflüge einfach ideal und bietet mit Pub, Bäcker, Fleischer und kleinem Supermarkt alles was man braucht. Gerne empfehlen wir diese Ferienwohnung weiter und freuen uns auf ein nächstes Mal

A real gem! A large apartment with lots of character!
An amazing apartment in the historic Kinghorn town hall! I could tell when I booked it that it would be special, but it is even better in person!! Even with its massiveness, it is still homey and inviting. The apartment is charming and has lots of character! All my friends that I’ve shared photos with are in awe. We ate dinner at The Ship Restaurant twice (highly recommended) and we bought meat pies at the butcher down the street twice (also highly recommended) and ate in the dining room in the apartment. During our stay we took a great day trip to St. Andrews and visited the castle and cathedral ruins. We are lucky to have had nice sunny days for our stay, a bit chilly but we just bundled up. Thank you to Beth for arranging a cab for us and giving lots of recommendations.

An amazing stay!
We absolutely loved our stay at the Old Town Hall! It is a wonderful old building with a hidden spiral staircase, and so much room you could get lost in it. The location is perfect...close to the train and bus. It is an easy ride for a day trip to Edinburgh, Sterling, St Andrew's, and Culross, and yet have the charm of being in the village of Kinghorn. We had a very good dinner at The Ship Restaurant across the street. I highly recommend a stay at this memorable property.

Wonderful Property, wonderful stay!
Such a unique property. Nearly two hundred year old building beautifully restored into a fantastic vacation rental. Tons of space to spread out and enjoy. Huge living and dining room, great sized bedrooms. The decor fits the building to a "T". Lots of info from the owner a an extremely helpful housekeeper close by if there are any needs. Excellent restaurant right across the street and a Coop store for groceries a two block walk. Edinburgh is a 40 minute train ride, 9 pound round trip. Kinghorn itself is a wonderful little town. Is very quaint and with being close to Edinburgh, you can enjoy the small quiet relaxing town and still enjoy Edinburgh.

A large but comfortable , well stocked apartment
The children’s first impressions were “wow”. The apartment was comfortable and had everything you could need and more. It managed to be cozy and grand at the same time. There is lots to do nearby. The beach is 5 minutes away and is lovely and we can thoroughly recommend the local chip shop and The Ship across the road for fantastic food.

Unique Property!
We had a great stay in Kinghorn. Amazed at how big this property was - it certainly had character! It wasn't like anything we were expecting, but due to it's uniqueness, it's a place that our family will never forget! Loved the town - ate at both The Ship and Harbor View restaurants (wonderful people at both), took the train into Edinburgh - all great experiences! Appreciated all of the communication and directions provided by the owner - everything went very smoothly. Would love to get back there someday!

Wunderbares altes Haus
Die große Wohnung befindet sich in der ehemaligen Town Hall des Ortes. Wir mögen diesen etwas rustikalen, altertümlichen Stil und haben uns dort sehr wohlgefühlt. Insbesondere das extrem große Wohnzimmer mit Essbereich und Gaskamin hat uns gut gefallen. Was uns nicht gestört hat, man aber wissen sollte ist, dass die Küche etwas klein ist. Speziell wenn man mit mehreren Personen reist (wir waren zu viert), kann es da schon mal zu "Engpässen" kommen. Kinghorn als Ort ist eher unscheinbar, bietet aber mit seinem Bahnhof (5 Minuten vom Haus) hervorragende Anbindung z.B. nach Edinburgh.

Ferien fast wie im Schloss
Das Wohnzimmer sieht genauso aus wie auf dem Foto. Es ist sehr gross und sonnen durchflutet und man fuehlt sich wie in einem Ballsaal. Die Zimmer im stockwerk dadrueber sind sehr komfortable. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder.

i dont like leaving bad feedback for anyone this is an honest opinion on arrival cutlery was not at all clean cups had black dust inside , apart from this the apartment was very clean indeed, the master bed was very uncomfortable but to be honest i still slept well, the lounge gorgeous and comfy, two single beds very comfy, small double not so comfy, this next moan was my own fault and my personal findings . the location was very disappointing like i said for me and i should have checked the surrounding area apart from the beach there is nothing to do in the immediate area , a first trip to Edinburgh was soured by my daughters bag with driving license ,credit card student card , she had just bought a £100 yearly bus pass, but most saddening is the course notes that were inside. Now the really good news , the chippy almost facing , the fish is lovely . hope this review helps and like i said this is only my view, sorry if i have upset anyone.

Gracious living
Historic property - full of character and different from the average holiday let. Convenient for local public transport - we used it as a base to walk chunks of the Fife Coastal path, then jumped on a bus to get back. The Ship Inn opposite the property does fantastic freshly prepared food.

A Wonderful Stay.
We spent a long weekend in this superb Old Town Hall. It was grand and characterful yet warm and cosy at the same time. The photographs are absolutely genuine and it has all that is needed for a great stay. Kinghorn itself is a beautiful location, the bay is picturesque and the village has all the shops needed for a self catering location, including the Ship Restaurant opposite. The real icing on the cake however is the Old Town Hall. We will certainly return. Graham and Elizabeth

Wonderful Holiday
This is a simply beautiful property. The building itself is so impressive and the interior is jaw-droppingly gorgeous. It was like living in a film! It's classic and formal and at the same time homely and very comfortable. The kitchen is well-appointed with everything one could need to prepare and present even a most elaborate meal. There's a good washer and dryer upstairs. The bathrooms are spacious. The bedrooms are unique and lovely, especially the master, which is in the former bell tower. It's very quiet and private. The flat is immaculate. They've really thought of everything. I was completely at ease and didn't want for anything. It's a real home away from home. It's located an easy walk from a charming, peaceful coastline. There are restaurants, a grocer, and a nice pub mere steps from the front door, and there's a good chippy that delivers until quite late in the evening. There's a larger grocery shop just a few minutes' drive to the North. The Trust has thoughtfully prepared binders of information about amenities and services and local activities as well as about the history of the building itself. Check-in and check-out were straightforward and easy, with excellent communication and helpful, clear instructions. I just can't say enough good things. Thank you for a marvellous week. I hope very much to stay with you again.

Fabulous property
We loved this property. It had the wow factor every day. The bed in the master bedroom was super comfy (so comfy I have bought the same pillows). It would have been great to be able to get to the garden direct from the stairwell but we have no complaints as we knew we couldn't in advance and it didn't stop us sitting out on a sunny September day. We had total privacy in there, like a secret garden, and it was a bit like being in another era. We really appreciated the care package when we arrived. That was a nice touch. Kinghorn was a lovely place to wander about.

Beautifully restored historic building.
We enjoyed our stay at the Townhall in Kinghorn. The location was good for our frequent trips into Edinburgh by train. We also enjoyed hiking the Fife Coastal Trail and seeing the seals was a bonus. Kinghorn itself has a beautiful beach and a good variety of restaurants and cafes. The staff were responsive and professional throughout the booking process and during our stay. I would not hesitate to book the Townhall for future stays in Scotland. Deb and family from Canada

Urlaub in einem schönen, alten Gebäude
Das Gebäude ist ein historisch wertvolles Gebäude mit guter Ausstattung. Bei der Ankunft fanden wir ein Willkommen des Vermieters vor (Rotwein, Brot, Milch). Die Kontaktpersonen des Eigentümers waren sehr freundlich. In unmittelbarer Nähe verläuft der sehr schöne Küstenwanderweg Coast Path. 5 Minuten vom Gebäude entfernt befindet sich der Bahnhof, von dem häufig Züge zu Fern- und Nahzielen abgehen. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten bis 22.00 Uhr täglich befinden sich im Radius von 4 km umfangreich. Der Ost ist auch für Autofahrer gut geeignet, da die ländliche Umgebung gute Übungsstrecken bietet. Aber: Der Ort Kinghorn ist fest "in der Hand" von Seemöwen. Diese benötigen wenig Schlaf und machen Tag und Nacht Krach. Man sollte nachts gegen zeitweiligen Krach resistent sein.

Unique and Charming Accommodation
Our family of five stayed here for a week in June, had a terrific time in Kinghorn, and enjoyed the use of the Town Hall in every way. Large, flexible, and spacious can be hard to find in the UK, but this rental is all three. Everything works, multiple bathrooms, laundry facilities, and even a walled garden for when the sun pops out. The hostess, Beth, was helpful as well. Thanks, we will be back!

Spectacular!
We had a wonderful time at Kinghorn Town Hall. We were pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of this property. We kept opening doors and finding one more room. wundervolles, außergewöhnliches Haus
Letzte Woche durften wir ( Familie mit 2 Kinder) unseren Urlaub in diesem tollen Haus verbringen. Besonders schön fanden wir das große Wohnzimmer mit Kamin und bequemen Sofas. Begeistert waren wir vom gesamten historischen Gebäude, die Kinder fühlten sich wie in einem Schloss. Alles war sehr sauber, hochwertige Bettwäsche und Handtücher und in der Küche alles, was man sich nur wünschen kann. Da wir die ganze Woche wirklich gutes Wetter hatten, waren wir viel an dem Strand von Kinghorn und konnten Ebbe und Flut genießen. Der Ort ist ganz niedlich, man hat alles nur ein paar Schritte entfernt, kleiner Supermarkt, Schlachter und Bäcker. Da wir einen Leihwagen hatten, konnten wir von dort aus viele Ausflüge machen, nach: Edinburgh , Stirling, St. Andrews, Anstruther alles war gut und schnell erreichbar. Wir würden auf jeden Fall sehr gerne wiederkommen.

Review: Last week we were allowed (family with 2 children) to spend our holiday in this great house. We especially liked the large living room with fireplace and comfy sofas. We were enthusiastic about the entire historical building, the children felt like in a castle. Everything was very clean, quality linens and towels and in the kitchen everything you could want. Since we had really good weather all week, we were much at the beach of Kinghorn and could enjoy ebb and flow. The place is quite cute, you have everything only a few steps away, small supermarket, butcher and baker. Since we had a rental car, we were able to make many excursions from there, to: Edinburgh, Stirling, St Andrews, Anstruther everything was good and fast attainable. We would definitely like to come back. Amazing property in lovely village
Will definitely book again on a return trip. This flat had everything we needed, was an easy train ride to Edinburgh and the village of Kinghorn is so charming and friendly. Also being so close to the beach meant amazing sunsets and exploring. Being in a historical property just put it over the top.

Excellent.
We really enjoyed our stay in the comfortable, wel-appointed and quirky apartment. There was plenty of space for us all to do our own thing.
