"We had an amazing stay at Excellence Riviera Cancun and would love to come back one day. Staff: the staff at Excellence were amazing. Everyone was friendly, eager to assist, and very good at what they did. From the activity coordinators to the restaurant & bar staff to housekeeping, everyone was amazing. Pools: the resort has many pools, each awesome and catering to whatever you're looking for. A large main pool for fun and socializing. A lazy river for drifting peacefully on a mat. A few quiet pools for slowly wading. Restaurants: so many restaurants, so many options, and such great foods. Not everything was a complete win, but there wasn't anything we disliked. Rooms: we LOVED our room. Comfy, spacious, and can't beat that large rainfall shower. Amenities: one thing we were really looking for (and Excellence delivered on) was a fun activities schedule. They have a large variety of activities offered from morning (yoga) until late at night (DJ parties) with some really unique & enjoyable evening shows (circus, burlesque, all kinds of concerts). The only downside I can list is that if a staff member was not immediately able to help get you what you needed/solve your problem it often fell between the cracks. Example: we asked for a different kind of rum in our room, and staff said they had to ask someone else for help. It took 5 tried (and a unique intervention) to get it done. We didn't get the feeling staff didn't care, just that their handoff system wasn't the best."

"The room service is very poor. The room was cleaned only once in our 4 day stay. We called at the reception 2 days to get the dustbins cleaned and even I cleaned the dustbin myself one day. Also, there was a fight in a room on the same floor and there was foul smell of blood and waste everywhere for 2 days. No cleaning was done. Another thing, a glass broke in the room and i called reception to send someone to clean it, it took us 3 calls and 2 hours, when finally someone came to clean the floor at around 11:30 pm. "

"Food was very well pretended at certain restaurants, but overall food was great, the grounds were always well kept, security was excellent.. two ares that the overal expirence . 1 resception they seem mechanical and not engaging as the rest of the staff,2 reservations for restaurants are not effective n efficient, i think it it needs a second look on how to make it more patron friendly n efficient..Overall highly recommended the resort, all employees are super friendly. "

"Beautiful property, but they really need a better system for back-of-house operations. There were multiple times when I was walking back to my room and saw room service plates sitting in front of rooms overnight—or even for two days—which took away from the overall experience. I had two rooms booked, and one of them appeared to have just come off maintenance without proper cleaning. The room was dirty, the snacks and mini fridge were not fully stocked, and the bed sheets even had hair on them. Housekeeping also needs improvement. When they clean your room, they don’t always replenish the towels they take—you have to call and request replacements, and there’s an expectation to tip for that service. Upon arrival, we also requested additional bottled water for the bathroom to brush our teeth, but it never arrived. That said, the resort does have really great food options. I highly recommend making dining reservations in advance. Even though some say it’s not necessary, it definitely makes the experience smoother. Overall, I would consider staying at this resort again if they improve their cleanliness standards and create a more efficient system for maintaining hallways and rooms."
