“I was confused by the reviews on this hotel as they swung from terrible to fantastic. I found the place perfect for my stay, while doing the coast to coast walk. The staff were all friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good, the bar was good, I didn’t require an evening meal. The room was clean as were the facilities. “This is a wonderful property with lots of historic charm and stunning scenery right on the doorstep! I stayed 4 nights and Karen really looked after me; delicious cooked breakfast each morning and a newly lit fire in the evenings to sit beside. She gave me a tour of her gorgeous garden and introduced me to her feathered friends; the chickens, cockerel and pheasant as well as her lovely dogs.

“Our room, on the first floor, was excellent with lovely views. The food was of a high quality and the service was very good except on one of our three evenings when we were forgotten about and it took at least three complaints to get our meal started. Bed comfortable enough for one night stay.
