Tremendous experience, staying in a historical classic in Colombo. The hotel is showing its age but if you are a traveler looking for unique experiences this is an opportunity to stay in an unspoilt/un modernized colonia era masterpiece. I would stay here again. Colombo is a very safe city and the hotel is conveniently located for walking, or short tuk-tuk rides to other attractions and especially Fort Railway Station.

Hotellet har ett bra läge i de gamla koloniala delen av Colombo. Personalen är överlag mycket trevlig och hjälpsam. Inte minst den delen som ansvarar för rumsservicen. Retaurangen på 4:e våningen bhuder på en fantastisk utsikt över hamnen, och serverar en prisvärd middagsbuffé. Bra frukostbuffé med varma och kalla rätter. Hotellet är slitet och illa underhållet. Men funktionsmässigt finns inget att klaga på. Ett prisvärt och trevligt hotell som jag gärna skulle kunna återvända till.

Très bonne adresse quartier du Fort

L’ hôtel est très bien situé dans le quartier du Fort. L’ensemble des installations témoignent d’une grandeur passée et sont aujourd’hui un peu vieillottes notamment les chambres. Le confort et la propreté sont au rendez-vous. La literie est très confortable et le petit déjeuner excellent. A conseiller vivement si en plus vous craignez le bruit assourdissant de la rue.

Fascinating historical building, wonderful view of harbour from top floor restaurant, very helpful staff. But grubby throughout, walls, doors and furnishings particularly so. Food in restaurant uninspiring and overpriced. Second bedside cabinet and light missing in deluxe double room, only provided when I made a fuss at Reception, showing the photo of room as advertised (much better appointed!). Waited until 2.30. p.m. for room to be cleaned next day. Over time, became reconciled (resigned?) to the situation, and look back with some fondness, but only because of the personal charm of some staff members and the hotel’s undeniable character.

Serendipity Doo Dah...

It's in the name: a grand, old, lovely establishment... Pleasant, friendly staff... Just the one Lankan restaurant in da hood: Pillawoos, with the standard fare of short eats, biriyani and so on. Very much a man scene... I could hear clearly midnight yapping from the next room, so the old walls must be thin which is surprising. One thing that bugged me was the Xmas jingles being played in the lobby and lift... Why not some Lankan mini-bus music?

Good location in Colombo

Very good and central location in Colombo, close to City Center and Galle Face strip. Historical feeling as it is one of the oldest hotels in Sri Lanka. Hotel needs refurbishment. Friendly staff.

Keskeisellä paikalla oleva hyvä hotelli

Erittäin isot huoneet ja siistit, sänky hyvä, lämmintä vettä tuli aina, huoneistokohtaisen ilmastointilaite, ystävällinen henkilökunta sekä erittäin hyvä ja halpa illallisbuffet noin 12 e, eli olin erittäin tyytyväinen tämän hotellin valintaan ja suosittelen myös muille matkustajille. Turvallisuutta lisää poliisilaitoksen ollessa viereisessä rakennuksessa.
