Steps to ocean in beautiful sand streeted 4x4 community where wild ponies roam! Large open top floor with abundant space for families to commune and plenty of private bedroom space. Beautiful artistic details throughout. Porches for sunrise ocean views with coffee, sunset cocktails and shaded porch for respite from summer sun.

Accessible by 4x4 only. Approximately 2.6 miles up the beach. Not Pet Friendly...

Settle in for a memorable stay by the sea at “The Salty Anchor”! This classic and charming semi-oceanfront home combines the peace and serenity of a 4x4 vacation with the convenience of a short 2.6 mile drive to the paved roads of Corolla to visit shops, restaurants and attractions. Spend your days with your toes in the sand and relaxing on the new decks overlooking the unique landscape. Be sure to keep watch for wild horses playing in the dunes!

Stroll down a sandy path near the home to get to the ocean’s edge, or load up your 4-wheel drive vehicle with chairs, coolers and beach toys and park on the beach instead. Enjoy salty breezes and ocean views from the top-level sun deck or lounge in the shade on the covered deck on the mid-level. Savor more sights of the ocean from inside the home in the spacious top floor common areas which includes a great room, kitchen, dining room, and breakfast bar. After a full day of fun in the sun, fire up some friendly competition in the rec room with pool table.

The decor was beautiful and so was the view! The most special thing about our vacation was seeing the horses! We took a tour to see the wild horses but then we saw them on our own several times. One time they came into the yard to graze. So magical!!

Beautiful home with a fully stocked kitchen and plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces to enjoy spending time with family! The view from every room was amazing! We loved walking through the "neighborhood" and seeing the wild horses - we saw them every day we were there.

The Salty Anchor was as advertised. Spectacular ocean views from the deck. The house had everything needed for a long stay and the beds were very comfortable. Lots of things to do in the house like playing pool, games and puzzles. The horses showed up 3 days when the weather was nice. First time driving on the 4x4 beach and that took a little getting use to but no issues. The owners were easy to contact and extremely responsive. We will defiantly be staying here again. All of the pictures of the horses were from the house deck.

Perfect Beach House for Families

Salty Anchor is a beautiful house, so well maintained and decorated tastefully. I was a little unprepared for the remoteness of Carova Beach, but the location provided a surprise element of adventure to our beach stay and my kids LOVED being right on the beach. The house had everything we needed and was really well-stocked. In fact, I'd say it was the most well equipped vacation house I've ever stayed in. Really sweet touches throughout (my kids loved the seashell decorating craft!) and the views from the deck are unbelievably beautiful.

Great Experience

This was our first time to Corolla Beach and driving on the beach. We didn’t know what to expect with airing down and finding the house! The directions were great and the photos were exactly how the house was! The kitchen had everything we needed to cook. There wasn’t soap in the bathrooms, but we did find the big bottle under the sink to fill them all. It was so nice having 4 bathrooms all with showers and a tub! The beds were all comfortable and the house provides lots of space for people to have privacy. The outside shower was great after spending time on the beach. The decks were awesome to sit each morning and night and look out at the ocean. We enjoyed sunrises and sunsets each night and absolutely loved the visits from the horses!! They came right up to the house!! They even brought the baby! The private circle driveway was nice too! (We couldn’t figure out how to get the game system to work downstairs for the kids and the one bedroom tv wouldn’t work either.)Great house, great stay!!!

The house was perfect for a quiet, relaxing vacation. We enjoyed opening the windows, listening to the ocean and letting the breeze come through the main living space on the third level. The drive up the beach to Corolla took only about 10 minutes so it was easy to get to restaurants, stores and other attractions.

Beautiful Views

This was the perfect vacation. The views of the sunrise and horses were amazing. We even spotted a foal. It was my daughter’s literal dream come true. You do need a 4x4 vehicle to get there, and I’d recommend timing your trips in and out with the tides. The host was incredible and responsive, and we had no issues at all with the property. The beds were incredibly comfy.
