“Lovely hosts and a very generous cooked breakfast with quality ingredients and big pot of tea plus lots of toast! Room was very spacious and comfortable with a balcony for warmer weather - lovely views to the other side. Decor is somewhat dated and bathroom could do with update but everything scrupulously clean, loads of hot water and everything very comfortable. Could not have asked for more.”

“The Gatehouse is amazing and the rooms 5 star. The receptionist was amazing pick us up and drop us off after lovely meal and drinks. Restaurant The restaurant staff were lovely and it was an extremely busy night for them. Starter was selection of cooked meats and wafers on wood board. Had steak with chunky fries and the sauce was amazing. Overall the food was star of the show. The lounge was quiet and classy the bar manager was a class act and great professional presence. ”

“The room was pristine, the breakfast was excellent and all the staff friendly and efficient. One member of staff, John, was particularly lovely and went out of his way to help us on the afternoon we arrived early before our room had been cleaned. He let us into the room to change for the wedding we were going to and gave us some towels to freshen up. Also, the following day he went out of his way to help find us a taxi which was proving very difficult!”

“Lovely older cottage wirh lots of character. Yes its got uneven floors and there is a steep stair to the upper bedroom but saw this on the pictures and expected that. Really well equipped and parking right outside the door. Lovely village location with good walks nearby”

“Comfortable room with excellent tea making supplies - and a good sized mug each! The floor fan was useful as it was very warm. The hotel kindly allowed a later check out with a prompt and polite response to our request. Check in was efficient and simple. The evening meal was superb - great value and the pavlova! Wow! Chef’s kiss! All in all - a beautiful historic building and a really enjoyable stay. We will return I am sure. ”
