Historic Family Cottage - Garden - Central Frome
Summary:
Nestle into the heart of historic Frome at this charming former weaver’s cottage. Families and friends will be enchanted by the eighteenth-century charm, complemented by characterful interior design. Enjoy the idyllic sun trap garden with BBQ and dining. Sleep in one of three comfortable bedrooms with hotel-quality linens. Dine at one of the many acclaimed local eateries in the vibrant centre of Frome all just a five-minute walk along cobbled the Georgian streets of the Old Town.
The Space:
Welcome to our Historic Family Cottage in central Frome. This charming retreat, nestled in one of Frome's conservation areas on picturesque Naish's Street. Ideal for travelling friends or families.
The property has a spacious, well-equipped kitchen with full height fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee making facilities, plus children’s dinner ware.
The living/dining room has comfortable seating, dining for 5 and a large TV with Netflix and Catch-Up channels. Plus books and games. Beyond an enclosed garden with child friendly Astro turf, BBQ, picnic blanket, sun loungers and dining for 6.
Original curved stairs lead to the first floor to a king master bedroom and a single bedroom (pulls out to a king). On the second floor, a snug double bedroom in the eaves. All fitted with comfortable mattresses, hotel quality linens and bath sheets.
There is a modern bathroom with bath/shower and heated towel rail. We provide Faith in Nature toiletries for guests to use during their stay.
Guest Access:
The whole house and garden are for guest use.
There is free on-street parking and further free parking in a small resident carpark behind the property.
The staircases are original and wind around. There is a solid handrail on the left, however may be tricky for guests with particular mobility issues.
The Neighborhood:
Highlighted as one of the Times "Best Places to Live in Britain", Frome is a welcoming, charming, and vibrant town with a rich history, culture, and natural beauty. It is packed with historic buildings, independent shops, and creative individuals, making it an inspiring and unique destination. Frome's historic center is filled with architectural interest and a thriving contemporary arts scene.
As the original Somerset Market Town, Frome hosts regular markets on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, along with 'The Frome Independent Market' on the first Sunday of each month from March to December. This market attracts thousands of visitors and showcases local food, artists, designers, produce, and entertainment.
Frome also features specialty shops, arts venues, galleries, and a growing reputation as a hub for creative industries. The town hosts various events throughout the year, including the Frome Festival, the Frome Agricultural Cheese Show, the Carnival, and the Frome Christmas Extravaganza.
Outdoor enthusiasts can explore the surrounding nature, including Cley Hill, Orchardleigh, the Frome river, and East Woodlands. Wildlife lovers can spot horses, sheep, cows, dragonflies, kites, and buzzards in the area.
Additionally, nearby attractions like Babington House, the Newt, Hauser and Wirth Gallery, Stourhead and the cities of Bath, Glastonbury and Wells offer fantastic cultural experiences.

Quirky boutiques showcase a curated selection of vintage finds, handmade crafts, and designer goods, making it a haven for avid shoppers and those with a penchant for unique treasures.
Frome's artistic community is palpable, with numerous galleries, studios, and creative spaces scattered throughout the town. The Black Swan Arts Centre stands as a cultural hub, hosting exhibitions, workshops, and performances that showcase the town's vibrant artistic scene.
The monthly Frome Independent Market is a highlight, transforming the town into a bustling festival of food, music, and crafts. Local producers, artists, and musicians converge, creating a dynamic atmosphere that draws visitors from far and wide.
Historically rich, Frome boasts architectural gems such as St. John's Church, an impressive medieval structure, and the George Hotel, a coaching inn with a history dating back centuries. These landmarks add a sense of timelessness to the town's landscape.
Frome's lively atmosphere extends into its diverse culinary scene. Trendy cafes, gastro pubs, and fine dining establishments offer a range of culinary delights, showcasing local produce and international flavors. Whether you're craving artisanal pastries, farm-to-table dishes, or international cuisine, Frome has something to satisfy every palate.
