Rochinha’s house with fabulous views over the bay of funchal

Rochinha’s house is sea view, situated in the ancient and noble part of the city of Funchal. There are two bedrooms, two bathrooms, one kitchen and two living-rooms. There’s also a lovely garden with a hammock where you can relax. It’s the ideal place to spend some nice holidays with friends or family.
It has a perfect location, far from the busy and noisy touristic parts of the city, but just 200 meters away from the old town, cable car station, beach, market, Orchids Garden, and the city centre. There are also several restaurants, supermarkets and night clubs nearby.
You have easy access to buses that can take you to the Botanic Garden or other destinations around the island. The house is perfect for enjoying time indoors and outdoors. Inside, you’ll find a modern and elegant decoration, while, outside, the garden is the perfect place to have a pleasant outdoors meal, enjoying the view of the sea, the city and its Fort.
It’s the ideal house for sun, quietness and nature lovers. With its splendid sea view, you are likely to love your holidays here.

We enjoyed our stay at Rochinha House. Had everything we needed. Weather was cooler when we were there so we weren’t able to use the pool but we did appreciated the portable heaters that were available. Carolina is a wonderful host and provided direction as far as sight seeing, restaurants, etc. Check-in was clear and easy. Would absolutely stay here when we return to Portugal!

Our first visit to Madeira. Funchal was a great place to start. The place was a wonderful space with deck and pool. We were four women looking to hike and this place met our need! Thank you Carolina.

En pärla utöver det vanliga

Huset som är ett parhus ligger på gångavstånd till centrala stan. Man går ner på cirka 15 minuter men backarna hem är lite jobbiga för oss som är 80+. Taxi hem kostade knappt 5 euro och var lätt att fånga upp. Huset är både vackert och praktiskt inrett. Den lilla och helt insynsskyddade tomten var en oas med sin pool, vilstolar och matplats.

Unique and luxurious house in Funchal

My family of four stayed in the house for six days in July, and we had the best time. The spacious house has everything you need, and the pool and terrase area are just amazing. Astounding views of the city, a quiet neighborhood and perfect hosts. A big thank you to you and your husband, Carolina 🙏😃 We will be back soon.

Stay in Funchal

Good communication with Carolina, close to the old town approx 15-20 min walk to cable car, there is a very steep walk back to the property. Unfortunately due to storm Oscar we weren’t able to use the pool. But the garden is surprisingly private. Property was clean and comfortable We used a taxi driver called Nuno, recommended by Carolina to collect us from the airport, he also took us on a lovely day tour around the north of the island, then back to the airport. The restaurants recommended by Carolina were really good, but it is best to book 24 hours before to secure a table.

Séjour très agréable dans une location de qualité

La maison Santa Maria Maior est très agréable. Idéalement située, propre, avec tous les conforts requis, nous avons passé un excellent séjour. Les propriétaires sont très disponibles et très courtois. C'est très appréciable. Merci encore à Carolina et Pedro pour leur accueil. Dernier point : la piscine est un must dont nous avons bien profité ;)

Fyra fina veckor.

Bra standard, branta backar. Carolina och Pedro var mycket tillmötesgående och reagerade snabbt när diskhon i köket läckte. Mycket bra med en egen pool även om den var lite kall att bada i. Lite besvärande med hundar som skäller både dag och natt.

Nous sommes restés un mois chez Carolina et Pedro avant notre installation définitive à Funchal. Bon accueil, bonne situation au calme et à proximité de tous les services pour notre installation et pour la vie de tous les jours. Jolie maison, bien conçue, bien équipée à l’intérieur comme à l’extérieur. Nous nous sommes sentis comme chez nous avec notre chat grâce à la gentillesse et à la disponibilité de Carolina et Pedro.

Zentral gelegen mit schöner Aussicht vom Schlafzimmer

Das Haus sieht schön aus und liegt nahe der Altstadt. Die Sitzbezüge der Sessel im Wohnzimmer sind von den Schweißflecken dunkel gefärbt. Die Leder Couch ist dafür gut nutzbar. Uns hat der Aufenthalt dennoch sehr gut gefallen. Die Hunde in der Nachbarschaft haben zwar jede Nacht immer wieder längere Zeit gebellt, wenn die Fenster aber geschlossen sind, hat man die nicht mehr gehört. Ein Fliegengitter hätten wir gerne am Schlafzimmerfenster gehabt, weil gleich die Stechmücken ins Zimmer geflogen sind sobald man etwas lüften wollte. Ansonsten aber sind wir zufrieden mit der Wahl des Hauses.

What a fantastic property. From the moment we walked in we felt at home. Nicely decorated with lovely comfortable furniture. Nice variety of ornaments and personal touches all over the house. The garden is beautiful and relaxing. Patios doors opened up give you the feeling of living outside even when you are inside. Loved the kitchen and cooked two or three times while we were staying. The thing we really loved was having plenty of hand soap, toilet rolls etc - the bottle of wine on the table in our arrival was lovely - thank you. Some extra towels would have been nice but not a problem only a suggestion. We had a bit of a problem as my wife hurt her knee just before going on a Lavada walk. The fact that we could phone Nuno and Diego the taxi drivers was brilliant. They even looked after our cases while we spent the last few hours down at the Beerhouse before Nuno collected us to go the the airport for us to travel home. Carolina was so helpful all the way through the holiday with advice about wi fi etc. We recommend this house wholeheartedly and would return again in an instant. Thank you so much

Meget fint lejlighed med flot udsigt og en hyggelig have med en fantastik flot blomstervæg. Meget hjælpsomme udlejere. Sehr schöne und liebevoll eingerichtete Wohnung in Laufdistanz zum Zentrum

Die Wohnung ist sehr schön eingerichtet und verfügt über eine Terrasse mit Garten und Hängematte, ein Ruhepol mitten in der Stadt. Nahe am Zentrum gelegen ist man in 5 Minuten an der Uferpromenade oder zur Restaurantstraße von Funchal gelaufen. Carolina war sehr nett und hilfsbereit, bei Fragen oder Problemen ist sie per Handy erreichbar und schnell vor Ort. Wir waren zu viert plus Kleinkind 5 Tage in der Wohnung, besonders die kindergerechte Einrichtung hat uns sehr gefallen. Wir kommen gerne wieder!!

Comfortable & Spacious House / Garden in Good Location

We had a brilliant holiday in January (2 adults) and were fortunate to have fantastic dry & sunny weather. We used the airport bus to stop 3 and followed Carolina's detailed directions and found the property easily (I previously "walked" the route on google maps !) It was lovely to meet Carolina & Pedro at the property. It was a steep climb up the hill dragging cases but the hill although steep did not cause us any problems during the holiday. I convinced myself it was helping improve my fitness levels for the many walks we did. The highlight being being the the Pico do Arierio to Pico Ruivo walk - sensational & highly recommended for guests who have decent fitness levels and a good head for heights. The house is on two levels, you walk into the top level from the street & go down stairs to the sitting areas & well equipped kitchen. We spent little time in the house as we had long days out walking but occasionally we enjoyed relaxing in the garden ( & hammock !!) . Carolina was very helpful, and a few minor issues ( I could not connect to internet ) were resolved quickly & efficiently. As previous guests mentioned, the streets are narrow & I did not attempt to park the hire car in this street and used the next street up the hill, as this was wider and we always found a parking spot. The second street up the hill is very wide and there is lots of parking. It was the first time I had hired a car in Madeira and the expressways were easy to drive on. The very steep & bendy mountain roads were generally quiet and the rewards were worth the high levels of concentration required. You need to be comfortable with steep hill starts & multiple point turns ( Never managed a 3 point turn !) Occasionally you could hear barking dogs at night & some building work during the day. These are outside Carolina's control & were never intrusive and did not spoil the enjoyment of our holiday. This is my third property rental in Funchal & my favorite so far. Carolina & Pedro were lovely & readily available to assist in any way. Thanks for a great holiday.

Schöne Wohnung, tolle Sicht, sympathische Vermieterin

Wohnung mit toller Sicht über die Bucht von Funchal. Wohnung mit allem ausgerüstet, was man braucht, auch einer Waschmaschine, wodurch man sein Gepäck minimieren kann! Stadt zu Fuß erreichbar, Rückweg etwas anstrengend aufgrund der steilen Staße. Sehr nette Vermieterin, die jederzeit erreichbar war. Die Wohnung kann man nur empfehlen!

This apartment was a good choice.It is very tastefully furnished and decorated,with artifacts .

The appartment has a nice garden and a view to die for from upstairs.Its a short walk to the city downhill and we as pensioners took a taxi back at 5 euros.We went up the cable way and the Mont has a breathtaking view.We also took the hop on hop off and enjoyed the food at various restaurants at very affordable prices.The wine at the nearby minemarket was great at 4 euros a bottle.We enjoyed our holiday and slept well at night.Caroline is a great host and we would come back anytime

Superbe location, appartement très confortable, meublé avec beaucoup de goût, un petit havre de paix au cœur de la ville de Funchal. Le centre et le bord de mer sont accessibles facilement à pied même s'il faut être en bonne condition physique pour le retour ;-) Merci à Carolina, nous avons adoré notre séjour, nous recommandons très vivement.

Très jolie maison

Maison propre, décorée avec goût, dans une ruelle au calme, petit jardin sans vis à vis, très agréable pour les longues soirées d'été. Nous avons pris tous nos repas dehors. Proche de la vieille ville, 5 à 10 min à pied, prévoir néanmoins une montée très raide au retour. Le seul bémol: absence de place de parking et rue très étroite, on a du se garer plus loin, pas pratique avec des enfants ou des courses. Il faut s'attendre à des démarrages en côte assez surprenants, mais on finit par s'y habituer. En tout, on a passé un séjour très agréable, très authentique, nous y reviendrons avec plaisir. Merci à Carolina pour son amabilité et le petit cadeau de binevenue!

Nice house, environment a lot less

The house was well equipped and clean. It is at good proximity from the centre. In the description it stated that there would be a second bathroom, this turned out to be a second toilet only. The view as shown on the pictures is only visible from the bedrooms. This view will disappear soon, however, as they are building a new block of apartments about 100 meters away. In addition to that, the neighbours are also constructing which unfortunately creates a lot of noise. The owner did not notify us about this in advance. The neighbour's dogs also created quite some disturbance, this did become less during the week. All in all, we would not book this house again.
