The staff are friendly, especially for that 78-year-old young guy when I checked in the late night. The location is terrific.

Pros: nice staff, good location, nice breakfast. Cons: the room was not clean. The walls were dirty, there were hairs on the headboards and there were ants EVERYWHERE. The moment I stepped in the door they were there, and they only multiplied the longer I stayed. There was also an AWFUL sewage smell coming from the bathroom that stunk up the room. I tried closing the bathroom door, but the frame must have warped because it wouldn’t close all the way. When I opened the door in the morning, the sewage smell was so strong I was gagging. Not even a face mask and tiger balm could overcome that smell. Additionally the walls are very thin. I was on the second level, right by the stairs and I could hear everyone that came in, and I could hear people who were in there room, in my own room. If someone coughed in their room I heard it in mine. I also ran into some wifi issues where it was lost or ran an error of “disrupted server”.

E stato un errore prenotare questo B&B, avrei dovuto leggere meglio alcune recensioni ( esterne in special modo ) le condizioni in generale sono buone, nulla da dire, forse nella nostra camera avrei preferito trovare meno capelli - non miei - e un bagno con finestra.. ma la cosa più importante e soprattutto quella che ha fatto del nostro soggiorno in vero incubo notturno è stata la discoteca al piano di sotto, nessuno ci ha avvisato che nel cuore della notte ci sarebbe stato un tale rumore da doversi inventare tappi per le orecchie di fortuna con carta igienica e oltretutto verso le 3.15 il rientro di alcuni clienti in preda all’alcol e a discussioni non proprio allegre.. tant è chela mattina successiva non avendo chiuso occhio, ho pensato di scendere e fare colazione dovendo fare lo slalom tra le macchie di sangue sul pavimento sparse nei corridoi esterni alla nostra camera, un vero schifo… ( da parte del personale interno mi aspetto almeno una ronda per bonificare… ) tutto è stato effettuato solamente dopo un ora la zona colazione.. ( area colazioni in buone condizioni, ma avrei preferito trovare la zona dedicata ai cibi, un pochino più attenta alla presentazione delle portate ) Peccato.. avevo scelto questo posto nel mio intento nel 2024 per tornare ancora una volta a Funchal, ma mi sono sbagliato

I couldn’t recommend Zarco B&B enough! I stayed for a solo trip and it was perfect. The location is amazing - right on the marina waterfront in close proximity to shops, bars, restaurants - and taxis/tours are very happy to pick you up right outside. I felt very safe at all times and the 24 hour reception really helped with this (you can come and go as you please at any time). The rooms were clean and comfortable (with regular cleans during my 4-night stay). The staff were all so friendly; I needed some assistance with my room at one point and maintenance sorted it straight away. The gentleman on reception sent me off with a parcel of cakes as I was leaving before breakfast for my hike! The breakfast spread was a highlight - lots of choice and replenished well. I often woke to the smell of fresh bread! There are water dispensers for filling bottles and coffee machines too. Will definitely be back :)

Simple Breakfast, but more than adequate (buffet). Location is the main selling point, as puts you right at the front adjacent to the promenade. Walking distance to the Mercado dos Lavradores (Farmers' Market) and old town, Cable Cars and CR7 museum. There is a market right outside for essentials. The building has no lift and some rooms are without windows bu sdo all have Air conditioning. This is the second time I've stayed here and would stay again.

Great location for bus station, walking in the area and food/stores. The room was okay: mini fridge wasn't working, door couldn't locked,very tiny bathroom and rigid towels. Breakfast was good :)
