Paradise Found

What an idyllic piece of paradise! The lovely home with its gorgeous views and refreshing breezes was pristinely clean thanks to Linda! We loved the breezy porch surrounded with coconut trees with glimpses of the aqua colored waters. The house appeared recently painted and updated. It was well outfitted and included snorkeling gear as well. The beach was deserted and the water entrance sandier than some with great snorkeling. It’s one of those places you wish you could stay at forever. We will be back.

The house is spacious with large windows everywhere to provide lots of light and sunrise views. The big 10' glass doors off the master and living room were especially nice. The new deck recliners were a plus as the back covered porch is a great place to do work, play games, or just relax. The Starlink WiFi was amazing as well. There were lots of coconuts to cut open and eat if you can get them down and know how to wield a machete! Delicious!Some notes: The kitchen furnishings are adequate but not overly stocked--no tin foil or cookie sheet to cover items baking.If you really want/like to snorkle, bring your own gear. All in all, we loved it here.

Your own private beach!

The rooms are nice and large, clean, it cools down quickly and has a very large covered porch which is your 2nd living room. It's just beautiful and the yard is very lush but maintained. There is small sand path to the beach which is about as good as you would want. Huge sandy beach with calm enough waters. You need to get past the shore breaks, but most are in super shallow water. The water is crystal clear. There are rocks to navigate but you can go in pretty far before them. If you want privacy and pure beach time with a house with some space, this is perfect. The house is well maintained. Highly recommend. The location is convenient because James Cistern is just up the road with a few good places to eat and drink, groceries and liquor. Governors Harbor is also close, about 10 minutes.

Perfect Location from which to Tour Eleuthera!

This cottage was just as advertised - spacious, nicely appointed and well-equipped with everything needed for a lengthy stay. The location is isolated, but near enough to towns to make trips for groceries or meals fairly quick. The sunrises in the mornings were spectacular! The yard is really nice as is the access path to the beach. However the high tides made for a fairly high bluff from which it was hard to get down onto the actual beach. We found a ladder to use for the access, so made it fine - you just have to be a little creative! (Maybe a platform with steps would be helpful...) The palms are gorgeous and the property, though dated, it well-maintained. The electricity did go off at various random times during our stay, but never really impacted us - and that is just part of being on this island - it is under no control of the property managers. All in all, we will recommend this property to others. We had a nice stay.

Private Heaven

Property was absolutely beautiful! During our week we saw a total of 5 people on our miles long beach. Being in close proximity to Governor's Harbour was convenient.The Villa terrace was the place to be while there, as refreshing trade winds were 24/7. We never ran out of water but had to be extremely prudent when using because sometimes the shower or kitchen faucet would suddenly stop. As our week progressed we were able to manage it. AC worked exceptionally well. The Washing machine did not work. The staff were very helpful!

Wonderful Location

We had a wonderful stay at Atlantic Sunrise. The location was beautiful, being on the ridge above the beach. We enjoyed sitting in the bedroom and watching the waves break on the beach. Kim and Jason made the booking process smooth. Linda, the housekeeper was very helpful, calling to check we settled in and asking if we needed anything. Overall our trip was quiet and restful. Some of the few restaurants were closed as we traveled during COVID. We most enjoyed what this island has to offer: natural beauty, warm waters, and quiet beaches.

Love Eleuthera

The caretaker contact was helpful and quick to reply to any questions. The rooms are huge and reasonably furnished. The villa was clean as a whistle on arrival. All appliances worked. Dishware, cutlery, and cookware were sufficient for our needs. The deck areas were spacious, and often used. The beach was excellent for walking, though access became tricky after some sand erosion as a result of prolonged onshore winds. James Cistern is only a five minute drive, and has several decent stores for shopping, and a gas station. Governor's Harbour is 15 minutes by car. I would recommend this property to friends and family.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house is on a beautiful stretch of beach. It’s a large house very clean. It Has a beautiful back porch into the side and a lovely beach view to the side. The houses is set back a bit from the beach making it difficult to hear or feel the ocean. There are two air-conditioners one in each bedroom but none in the living areas or bathrooms. Normally we are very tolerant of heat. We were there during a very hard time at a time and there is no breeze blowing through the house so other than the bedrooms the rest of the house reach 90 and was almost unlivable. So sadly we rented a huge house and mostly hung out in the best when there. I’m sure you’re in cooler months it may be a breeze it was through.

Wonderful Week

The short path to the beach had shrubs and we really could not see the house to the north. There was no one sharing that beach. My wife walked every day all the way south to where she could see some of the Navy base structure. No people. Bring your own source of music if you like music, or news. We bring a very small radio to listen to news (ZNS) but forgot our Bluetooth speakers. Too windy on the beach? Cross the highway to Alabaster. Also, the projector worked great once I figured things out.

Above and beyond!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We are not the resort or cruise type people, so when vacationing we gravitate to areas that are less people but also have local flare. This villa provided the perfect integration of private but also access to great restaurants and activities. You will need to rent a car to get around to the eateries, because it is pretty isolated. We LOVED that, we were at the villa for five days and never saw a person on the beach! The water is crazy beautiful and we just kept saying "Wow!" The breeze on the porch made it our favorite place to hang out, and cooled things down a bit. Linda was very nice, but we never needed anything so didn't have much interaction with her. The house was very clean and we felt very comfortable. In a nutshell, if you love privacy but also great places to eat and things to do- this is your place. We are grateful to God for His beautiful creation and grateful to have stayed in this wonderful place.

Absolutely the best location on the island

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Not our first trip to Eleuthera but our first time staying at this wonderful home. We've rented homes on both sides of the island, this location is my favorite. It is very private, although near the airport we only heard one plane take off the entire time we were there and we were swimming at the time. Don't be fooled by the proximity, it is a very peaceful location. You'll also appreciate the location when it's time to leave. It's also very close to the grocery stores in James Cistern and Governors Harbor. The house itself if well furnished with everything you need to prepare dinner or just hang out with the family. We really appreciated the amazing sunrises each morning. We spent many hours on the porch watching the waves and enjoying the ocean breezes. We are divers and love the water, the reef in front of the house is probably one of the nicest that is reachable from shore. Don't read the travel guides, no other reef we visited on our previous trips comes close the life on the reef in front of the home. This reef is truly a hidden gem, maybe not anymore. We spent hours each day, even after returning from dive trips, snorkeling in front of the house. Beach is clean and private.The caretaker was very responsive to any needs we had during our stay as was Matthew @ Eleuthera Vacation Rentals.I want to thank the owners for allowing us to stay in their beautiful home.

Amazing Retreat!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Atlantic Villa Sunrise was a great escape! We booked it for our wedding/honeymoon week and loved it. The house is a little outdated and could use some minor repairs but overall not a deal breaker. The windows and doors all have screens enabling us to keep them open during the day and keep bugs out. The back porch faces the Atlantic Ocean and was a two min walk to a beautiful beach. We were there a week and didn’t see another person on it. The sunrises were spectacular and during low tide there were opportunities for shell hunting. The only negative things during our stay was the miscommunication for checking in. We received a very detailed letter explaining the ins and outs of eh house, and that The property caretaker would meet us to show us around. We emailed her and didn’t get much response. Upon arrival I called her and she said the keys were in the house. Also, we were asked to fill a water container before leaving for the next guests, however, it was nearly empty when we arrived. Make sure you bring a hairdryer and if you need to do laundry, it’s hang dry only as there is not a dryer. Both bedrooms have a wall AC unit which were perfect for sleeping. Overall, we loved this property and would love to rent again in the future!

Why I Hesitate to Write This Review:

If we tell you how terrific this house/location/ease of renting has been, will you have grabbed it for the very week when we dream of returning? We wobble between wanting to keep Atlantic Sunrise Villa a well-kept secret and feeling obligated to share info with this community-at-large, on whose candid reviews we often rely! OK. Obligation wins. But will you respect the property? Please? First: location. The house is scarcely a mile from GH Airport (but no, you won't hear noise of buzzing puddlejumpers). The house is tucked off the main road, down a cut through the brush. It's also a 15-minute drive to Governor's Harbour itself, and relatively equidistant to beaches, sights north/south. I didn't quite believe other reviewers about the beach until I saw it myself--and I'm still searching for my jaw, which I dropped somewhere out the back porch. The backyard is lined with coconut trees and greenery; scarcely a 30-second walk beyond lies a magnificent beach on which, during Easter week, we NEVER saw another human. (Color correction: "pink" is a little overstated...in certain lights, "blush" maybe?) There is only one neighbor...who was quiet, kind and welcoming (hi, Mike!). The pounding waves lulled us to sleep every night; indeed that extraordinary sunrise was there for the watching in the mornings. (Beware dawn/dusk noseeums and skeeters, folks. Keep those screen doors SHUT!) The house surpassed our expectations and, as others have noted, the photos don't quite do it justice. All the rooms are large, airy, understated and comfortably appointed. The room flow is easy, the bathrooms VAST. The washing machine works!! It was absolutely clean and yes, the projector works if you want to hook up your computer and watch movies on the wall. (No TV.) Note the room count: master bedroom with a king bed (and that sunrise display!!!) ; second bedroom with a queen bed. Another person could sleep on the sofabed in the living room area, which is just outside the bedrooms and not private. Comfortable, but definitely not a third bedroom. Renting the property--working with the agents and later, the caretaker--was easy and helpful. Agents responded quickly and were ever-generous with tips and advice, answering all questions. Recommendations packets were spot-on. While we never met the caretaker in person, she was available by phone. Ample clean towels, sheets, spices. GO!!! (And if you respect the island, ask a local about Receivers' Beach. Four minutes away!)

A Beautiful Place to Vacation

Wiring money was a bit nerve-wracking for us since we had not done this in the past; but it all went well (but don't expect much in way of receipt - you'll get an email that they got it). There were many questions that we had prior to the trip (and while we were there) that never got answered by the Caretaker, Linda. Some of those questions were answered in the FAQ's we found at the house - it would be helpful to have those FAQ's emailed to future renters beforehand (and they could be expanded upon/updated). The house was extremely nice and had a lot of amenities. The master bed was comfortable and the furniture was cozy and welcoming. The only downside to the house were the sliding doors in the living room and bedroom (could be worked on so that they function better) and the lack of shampoo/conditioner and hair dryer. You have to buy water and leave some behind for future guests (it would be nice to know that ahead of time as we had stopped at the store for groceries before going to the house and had to go out again). We would rent this place again as the location on the island is IDEAL and is close to Queen's Highway. Renting a 4WD jeep (or car with higher clearance) is also something we would do instead of a 2WD car. The beach is deserted and beautiful. The yard and veranda are extremely lovely; we spent a great deal of time on the veranda. You are on the windy side of the island, so be aware of that. And also be prepared for washed up trash (nets, plastic, propane tank) on the beach - it's extremely sad to see on such a beautiful beach. It's not only on this beach, but many of the others we visited.

Great location and privacy

28 days in this great property. Kristin and Tara at eleutheravactonrentals.net were very helpful and communicated frequently to ensure everything was in order leading up to the stay as well as while I was there. Linda, the very friendly caretaker, made sure everything was just right. Very private beach with few footprints. If you are looking for a quiet and tranquil setting, this is it. Very few neighbors. Great diving and swimming right out front. The house itself was well equipped and comfortable. I only used a little AC at night in the bedroom. Ceiling fans were great in the living areas if there was no breeze. Governors Harbor and James Cistern both local for grocery and other necessities. Eleuthera has changed in the 43 years since I first visited. More cars and visitors might be creating some new stresses on our wonderful Bahamian hosts. When you are running errands or just walking the towns, take a minute to engage the locals. I think you will be amazed at how friendly and hospitable everyone is. Just be very friendly and respectful of their beautiful island. I made many new friends in these towns. And don't forget fresh bread and cinnamon rolls along with organic veggies at Island Farm Tuesday and Friday. Opens at 9 and the breads go fast :) The owners have created a wonderful island getaway.
