Pazin, with its long tradition and rich culture, is the administrative center of Istria County. Due to its excellent location in the heart of Istria, the town is very well connected with other towns, larger tourist centers are only about 30 km away. This region offers something for every taste. Adrenaline lovers will enjoy zip-lining and rope jumping over the geographical phenomenon of the Pazin Pit, as well as free climbing, kayaking or speleology. Pazin is home to the largest and best-preserved medieval castle in Istria (Kastel), located above 130-meter-high cliffs where the Pazincica River flows into the Pazin Pit. The renowned French writer Jules Verne was also inspired by Pazin and part of his novel "Mathias Sandorf" is set in Pazin. Today there is a Jules Verne Club in the town and 'Days of Jules Verne' are organized every year at the end of June.
