Almost everything was fine. The staff that we interacted with were very nice. The problems were, only one of the two elevators worked, so sometimes there was a more than expected wait. The other thing was no ice. When we came in there was one of four ice machines that worked. After the first night it quit as well. Not acceptable.

I rarely write reviews, but after this experience, I feel obligated to warn others. I had two rooms booked at the Best Western Plus in Stephenville for my family while we were in town to see my son perform in his first college play at Tarleton. I communicated clearly in advance that I would be arriving late (around 1:30–2:30am) and requested a late checkout because the Sunday performance was later in the day. The hotel responded in writing and confirmed that they would add a late checkout at 3:00pm for both reservations. There was also written confirmation that they had my credit card authorization form on file and that everything was handled. Fast forward to Sunday. I didn’t get into my room until 4:00am. Despite having a confirmed late checkout, housekeeping knocked on my door THREE separate times that morning. Then, the front desk sent a staff member up to my room to try and force me to leave, insisting there was no late checkout arranged. Only after I forwarded their own email confirmation did they respond with, “She didn’t know about the late checkout… she is still fairly new.” That excuse might explain internal miscommunication, but it does not justify harassing a paying guest who had written confirmation. To make matters worse, after all of this, they still told us we did not have a late checkout arranged and essentially pushed us out. As someone who travels frequently for work and stays in hotels across the country, this was unacceptable.

Room was spacious, clean, but the fridge didn’t work. I didn’t use it, and I forgot to let the front desk know it wasn’t working so that it could be fixed. Other than that it was great. Front desk employees were super nice!

To start with, the premises was understaffed. Front desk was training two folks at once. Got there and the elevators were out. No warning. Room was on the 3rd floor. Breakfast had oatmeal. However no brown sugar to go with it. TV had permanent vertical lines going thru it. Took them 3 TVs to find one that worked. Looks like this hotel has the ability to be a nice hotel, but management is running it like a low end hotel.

Elevator broken, so they put us on 1st floor. No hot water, plus multiple roaches in bathroom. Second room didn't have hot water either (finally manager admitted they have issues with hot water on first floor). Finally moved us to 2nd floor - room reeked of mildew, but by then it was late and we just wanted to sleep. My advice: Pay the extra $20-$30 and stay somewhere else in Stephenville.

Elevator was out and no hope for repair. That is what the HS girl said at the desk. No warning or notice when we booked and all. Other hotels sold out (graduation week- we were just visiting college campus tour) when we got there so we had to take the top Floor room. Walked 3 flights with a lot of luggage. Walked into the room finally- gross Dirty towel balled up in the corner of our “cleaned room” , A/C nor heaters did NOT work. . Tried unplugging and reapplying - it was dead. TV dead also- it did not even come on or work but remote was fine. Called front desk-Staff was very young and attitude was “who cares” feel. Got us into another room with zero apology! Told her in addition the TV didn’t work and she asked me to explain. I explained (it is dead) but also said it wasn’t the main problem but maybe just look for yourself- lazy!. This new Room was better (all things worked) but I would never ever stay here again. Beware the elevators have been out since the “big storm” and that was months ago. For over $200 per night this should have been a lot better experience. Time To restaff night shift- this is a college town , I bet there are 100 Better applicants in line for a job!!!
