Beautiful home and grounds with access to Lake Superior's splendor. This duplex home is owner occupied on the second level, with the ground floor being offered for guest use. Two bedrooms, a full kitchen and unique bathroom with separate commode room. Beautiful surroundings with a pond on the grounds, several fruit trees make wildlife viewing exceptional. Lake Superior Private Beach Front (drive leading to beach)
Seasonal property available May 1 thru November 1 only.

This place is a GEM!

We appreciated going into this rental knowing that the property owner was living upstairs and we were renting the downstairs area. The property was gorgeous. Well maintained lawn, mowed with gardens and the property owner was super friendly. The hidden gem here, is the beach! It IS a 1/4 of a mile walk to the beach, so those with mobility issues will have quite a hike. However, it is a primarily private, sandy beach on Lake Superior, which you can’t beat! Beyond that, the house had all the amenities needed-full kitchen and bath and a short drive to downtown Grand Marais.

Enjoyed our stay

The location was great, we enjoyed the beautiful backyard and porch and access to Lake Superior and close to town. The town is really nice. The only possible improvement we would suggest is the bed in the front bedroom might need a new mattress, it was not particularly comfortable.

just what we needed

this is a beautiful, simple house that is comfortable and lets the location impress. the kitchen is well stocked (extras are in the side board), everything is comfortable and very clean. good amount of storage space and room to spread out, including outdoor area. we brought bikes and a kayak. we could hear the lake from the bedroom at times, which was nice. town is very close though it doesn't feel that way. the beach is great, soft sand, all the drift wood and pebbles you want to enjoy. It is a walk from the house, though, and though ecologically healthy don't plan on anyone with mobility problems having an easy time getting to the beach. it is shallow for a long way out so even the 3 year old felt like he could play 'in the deep end of the lake!' a few minor complaints, the house was hard to find in the dark, managers directions are good but it was difficult to see street signs or landmarks in town in the dark. grocery options are typical vacation town, limited and depending on the day, so think ahead, though we just adjusted our plans and were fine. my rating of communication with the manager was based on what we learned later was a problematic week for her and I think not typical. Overall, a beautiful house and spot and extremely relaxing. We were all sad to leave and hope to return in the future!
