“Charming, friendly staff. Comfortable well appointed accommodation, though room in older part of building a little “tired “ in some areas. Excellent choice at breakfast exceeds the norm for this grade of hotel. Shuttle bus to/fro town is a very welcome extra in this hilly location.”

“Staff, accommodation and food were great, though staying for 10 days we virtually had every dish from The Ocean menu! It did get a bit boring! The Mexican restaurant was very noisy and service was poor, and we only went there once because of that. Disappointed that we weren’t told beforehand about the lack of Spa activities due to staff illness. We were looking forward to the odd experience and they were not available unless we went into St Peter Port. The road closure was also a problem which……

“If you’re thinking of booking a compact room from this hotel then please don’t go by the pictures supplied online. You may be better off paying a bit more for a normal room though I’d be interested to see the size of these before I could comment. Our room was like a shoebox, I’ve never stayed in such a small room and with one tiny tiny window in the corner. If you’re claustrophobic this would not be for you.”

“The room has lovely sea views but the carpet is heavily stained and the decor generally quite tired. The room was also incredibly hot despite being offered a fan by the helpful staff. It is a great hindrance that the windows cannot be opened more than a few inches. For a hotel of this reputation and in this price range, air conditioning should be incorporated throughout. The ground floor area and amenities like the pool are wonderful, as are the friendly staff. The fabric of the hotel (e.g.……

“The first thing to say is that we had a really great week staying at The Imperial and we would go back. The first night was not good as we were given a very noisy room (no 6) at the back of the hotel above the kitchen on one side and above the public bar on the other. Despite being fully booked, the staff did everything to sort this out and we were given another room - much better. The hotel is being slowly updated so has an old-fashioned feel, especially the bathrooms. Breakfast was excellent……
