Um lugar cheio de história e que foi berço de Portugal. Não é à toa que em um pedaço da muralha original tem os dizeres “Aqui nasceu Portugal”. The Castle of Guimarães began with a monastery built by Mumadona Dias in the 10th century, before, therefore, the formation of Portugal. As the attacks of the Moors were frequent they decided to build a wall to protect the community and the monks that lived inside. It was this fort that gave origin to the Castle of Guimarães. Later, in the twelfth century, it was in this castle that Dom Afonso Henriques was born. Some years after he would become the first king of Portugal. With the lack of use the castle was degrading. Recently it was recovered and classified as National Monument. It is also considered World Heritage by UNESCO. A place full of history and that was cradle of Portugal. It is no wonder that in a piece of the original wall has the words "Here was born Portugal".

Very clean and comfortable hotel! Everything went smoothly from check in (we were able to store our luggage in the breakfast room) to check out. Our room was spacious and we were able to adjust the heat pump for heating the room. The continental breakfast had a nice variety of pastries, yogurts, cheese and meats. I enjoyed being able to have a large freshly brewed coffee. I would happily stay here again. The hotel is in a good location for walking to the old city.

Able to park outside the hotel to unload our luggage, two options available for parking, both were approx 300 m, from hotel. Option 1 was free, totally safe, second option was 5€ p/day secured parking

This a nice, clean hotel in a central but quiet area. Staff were fantastic. I only give it 4 stars, however, as there is no elevator above the first floor. The property clearly states this on its website but it's still a pain to drag luggage up the stairs. There's also no coffee in the room.

Just a short walk from the bus station. The reception was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and clean. The relaxation areas in the hotel are beautifully decorated. I would stop here again.

The room and bathroom were clean. The beds and linens were comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. The hotel sits in a perfect location. It is close to the parking area if you have a car. Remember to stop at the hotel first to collect the parking card for 5 euro. The historic area is walkable because this hotel is in the center. The art work throughout the hotel adds a special touch. Our room had floor to ceiling windows and a balcony view of the street in front of the hotel. We loved it! The young lady at the desk was very nice and helpful.

Great place and location! They do have paid parking for the hotel for 5 euro, but the staff told us there is a free parking lot, which typically has open spots. Both lots are a bit of a distance, but we parked in the free lot and walked for our whole time there.

A convenient, well-kept hotel

This was a charming, well kept, small hotel in a very convenient location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The included buffet breakfast was delicious and plentiful.

The smell of cigarettes perforated through the stairwells and into the guest rooms, particularly on the first floor. There is no elevator, which can be an issue if you have a lot of luggage. Staff are not willing to help out with luggage because they claim to be a 2-star hotel. Will not return to this hotel.

Property is dated and old. Typical Portuguese rudeness during front desk interactions, but not bad. Property states it has laundry facilities, not true. It also states it is wheelchair accessible, which is not true. There is no elevator and there are stairs to go anywhere in the property.

Fint hotel och bra läge i staden. Skön säng och rymligt rum. Tyvärr hade rummet tydligare skador av tidigare översvämning, som ej kändes helt slutförd återställning. Ingen hiss, kuddarna var många men osköna och frukosten saknade sedvanlig variation.

Boa opção próximo ao centro histórico.

Grata surpresa, bem melhor do que as fotos sugerem. Localização ótima, fizemos todo centro histórico a pé. Não tem estacionamento no prédio, porém não foi um problema, pois tem possibilidade de parar o carro descarregar bagagem na porta no hotel e eles tem parceria com estacionamento coberto bem próximo, por 5 euros a noite. Café da manhã gostoso, com as opções básicas e café estilo nespresso. Elevador chega apenas no primeiro piso, para nós não foi problema. Para mim só faltou um frigobar no quarto.
