Classic Lodges Gwent hotels

"Upon arrival just after 4pm, I was given Room 24 which was on the ground floor, directly adjacent to the dining area without soundproofing but an open doorway. Also in the adjacent rooms were numerous foreign (migrant?) families with children running up and down the short corridor, and plenty of door knocking and chatting loudly in the corridor. I complained to the reception staff (man instead of the young lady who checked me in), he apologised and moved me to another room on 2nd floor, plus gave a free drink voucher by way of apology, as it wasn’t the last room in the hotel. Odd it was given out in the first place. The second room has aircon that won’t switch off, unless you remove the room key so all electrics go out. I read this in other reviews so knew about it in advance of booking. In my second floor room, the sink was blocked and management must have known about it, as the sink plug (revolving disc) was missing. There was one in the ground floor room. The beds themselves are super comfortable, probably one of the best I’ve ever slept on, although some people may find them a little too high up off the ground. The surrounding area (over an Easter weekend) was a bit desolate. The road and surrounding land has much subsistence, with roadworks and single lane traffic lights which aren’t too much of an issue. There is a Subway but I never saw it open. There isn’t much else to look at, just a building site next to the hotel. I wouldn’t stay there again."

"All the breakfast items was cold the room was clean but small and dated bed was solid as a rock think the 3pm check in is abit late surely they can get room done by 1pm definitely wont rush to say there again most probably use premier inn instead "

"Overall experience was satisfactory. Room temperature and water temperature was just perfect. Good food, friendly staff and clean. I will definitely prefer to stay again if I have to visit Cardiff. "

"Personally this was the worst hotel stay ive had and this is completly my opinion but so bad that we checked out a day early and stayed somewhere else. Weve stayed in a Days inn before and knew what to expect, however this one was directly attached to the services and car park is shared with them. On arrival i wasnt able to pay for pet charge as the lady on reception was receptionist and couldnt take payment, it took sometime to check in. Room wasnt clean, chair had dirty stains, bathroom bin hadnt been emptied and still had used feminine products filling it. Apart from the above the worst thing for me was lack of sleep i was woken at 2 am and kept awake for 30mins while someone in the room above stomed about and then again at 4am when someone arrived across the hall and was banging doors, i guess this is to be expected with a 24hr check in but walls/floors must be so thin to be able to hear this. Before we left i tried to speak to reception and this was closed in the morning. I have truly learned my leason and shall not be staying in a Days Inn again. Just as an advisory tale for anyone looking to stay here i wanted to share our experience "
