The twin room that we stayed in needed maintaining in many areas, rusty bathroom bin and toilet brush holder, lots of black mould in the shower, taps loose and sink taking a long time to drain. We also felt that the see through glass door to the en-suite allowed no privacy. Live TV were pixelated luckily we could watch Wi-Fi channels. There also needs to be a second bedside lamp. The communal areas of the hotel could do with a really good clean and the breakfast was very basic.

Die Lage ist prima, Parkmöglichkeiten kostenlos in der Nähe, z.T. freundliches Personal, gute, ebenerdige Dusche einige nette Designideen, die aber die Bezeichnung Boutiquehotel nicht rechtfertigen superkleines Zimmer mit extrem weichen durchgelegenen Betten, 1 Nachttischlampe die aber nicht funktionierte weil sie einen falschen Stecker für die Steckdose hatte, Aussicht auf einen Hinterhof, der aber sehr klein war, Lüftung war daher schwierig im Zimmer und Bad, damit war nach dem Duschen der Spiegel lange beschlagen.Eine durchsichtige Scheibe zum Badezimmer hin, ist selbst für Ehepaare doof. Es gab absolut keinen Fernsehempfang, Streamen war auf dem Fernseher möglich. Teppich war recht unansehnlich. Einige der Mitarbeiter eher unmotiviert, als wir abends um 11 in das Hotel kamen war die Tür abgeschlossen, wir hatten zwar einen Chip am Schlüssel aber fanden nicht die Stelle um in das Hotel zu kommen. Hatte uns beim Check In niemand erklärt. Zum Glück war noch ein supernetter Reinigungsmann da, der uns dann den Nachteingang in einem Gang einige Meter vom Hoteleingang entfernt zeigte, alleine hätten wir ihn eher nicht gefunden. Das Hotel ist sehr hellhörig, das Frühstück ist sehr basic. Der Fühstückskaffee war mit weitem Abstand der schlechteste den wir in Schottland getrunken haben. Alles in allem deutlich zu teuer für die Leistung. Wir würden das Hotel nicht mehr buchen.

Schönes kleines Hotel

Sehr schönes kleines Hotel, direkt am Meer, man muss wissen das die Zimmer nicht arg groß sind aber perfekt eingerichtet. Man kann direkt im Hotel Essen aber es hat tolle Restaurants und auch Einkaufsmöglichkeiten direkt vor der Tür. Für den Start einer Schottland Reise perfekt.

Moved rooms 3 times because rooms were not fit for purpose. The first rooom had no water coming through the basin hot tap at all (and had a view over wasteland and derelict buildjngs). The second room sash window wouldn't close and the heating did not work, making the room freezing cold, and smelling greasy because the kitchen extractor fan was directly outside. The third room was a tiny twin (we had booked a double bed!) with a dreadful view of a drain pipe and metal trellis covered in fake greenery and false lawn. The shower tile grouting was filthy yellow.

This hotels investment in their social media campaign has paid off big time. While there are lots of Instagram opportunities, the actual stay was not impressive. The room was VERY very very small but also had ridiculously high ceilings so it was a strange optical illusion. The mattress was lumpy with some strange cover- I was going to look at what it consisted of but then thought I better not. The record players are decorative only. The windows must stay open because it’s very hot but then you hear the traffic signal blaring. Make sure you get down to breakfast early- they set out 4 slices of ham, 4 slices of cheese, a few pastries, and some cold boxes of cereal- if you’re not one of the lucky ones then there’s nothing left. We did not feel that our vehicle was safe as there is no parking lot. It was extremely disappointing.

Average - Positives & Negatives

Postives- Room was small but very clean. Bed very comfortable. Staff very friendly. Nice bar area for drinks. Negatives- Shower didn’t work spoke to staff but never got fixed during our stay. Continental breakfast very basic tea/coffee from a flask, luke warm & sitting for long time. Pastries not fresh.

Weekend stay

Location was great, Room was dirty, the bathroom specifically with fresh mould growing in many areas of the shower and dirt , hair etc all around the toilet , room not hoovered during our stay, Was was very average and even had to return a salad because it had be served on the main plate which was very hot so salad was wilted and warm, when replaced the same salad had just been put on a cold plate. The bed was well overdue needing replacement.

Zeer kleine kamer met uitzicht op een blinde muur op een meter afstand. Het was zeer warm op de kamer, mede doordat de luchtstroom naar binnen door de muur zeer matig was. De twee stoffige ventilatoren voldeden helaas niet. We hadden het gevoel weggestopt te zijn op een overgebleven kamertje. Prijs kwaliteit volledig zoek Ontbijt was prima.

A relaxing week

We spent 5 days at Riva . The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel if very easily accessible from the train station. If we were ever in Helensburgh again we would certainly stay Thanks to all the staff for their kindness

Great Stay with great food

Hotel was amazing very good service, great food and great breakfast, amenities where very good, record player, fan, coffee machine in room great touch. Very welcoming. However room was very small but amenities made up for it.

The tiny bedroom was a joke. three quarter bed in a single bedroom is not fit as a double. No wardrobe, no mirror and no room to move around or get changed. Advertised as breakfast included but failed to say it was only continental. Feel robbed Never again
