Amazing location but property was disappointing.
Excellent bedding and sufficient heating. Lovely towels and reasonable facilities. The property itself is tired and it needed a good clean when we arrived. I had to hoover the house and clean the floors. The internal doors don't close properly and some are difficult to open. It needs a makeover to compete with other holiday properties.

Gorgeous Bayside Retreat
We had an amazing stay at this charming little Loch side cottage. The views from the doors and windows out to the loch opening are stunning and the sun sets out over the islands and water making every clear night magical. The interior is simple but has all that you need, is comfortable and warm. Kitchen is well equipped for simple meals and there is ample room otherwise. Outside is a simple yard with grass, fully enclosed with fences and gate at the front entrance. It is within 20-30mins of most of the highlights of Skye. Portree is closest coop (25mins), small grocer in dunvegan for the odd pieces (10min drive). Didn’t get to the Stein inn or lochbay restaurant. Can recommend just hooked on Portree for fresh seafood and the butcher on struan road for fresh meat. Mostly a cultural difference between here and Aus is dogs everywhere, and as it’s impossible to get hair fully out of rugs, couch throw blankets etc, it was obvious if you sat on the floor or have little ones who did. We needed a break from phones, internet, TV but for those who are accustomed/seeking smart TVs and streaming, this wasn’t an option. However, There was a sky connection. We opted for the many puzzles that were available. We loved our stay here and would definitely book again

Lage hervorragend, Objekt unzumutbar
Die Lage des Objektes ist beeindruckend und hervorragend, wenngleich man einen sehr langen Anreiseweg hat und der Ort auch weit weg von Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Sehenswürdigkeiten liegt. Das Cottage ist marode und die komplette Unterkunft roch verschimmelt und war klamm. Am Schlimmsten war in diesem Zusammenhang die Tatsache, dass die Fenster in beiden Schlafräumen in der oberen Etage nicht geöffnet werden durften, ein absolut unzumutbarer Zustand!!!!! Das Wohnzimmer war dreckig und voller Hundehaare, Essensreste im Teppich, die Möbel uralt und marode. Wir mussten zunächst die komplette untere Etage putzen und Teppiche draußen ausklopfen, um asthmatische Anfälle zu verhindern! Da wir von Schimmel und Hundehaaren trotzdem Asthmaanfälle bekamen kippten wir die Fenster in den Schlafräumen, was dazu führte, dass sie uns nachts bei Sturm komplett aus der Fassung in den Innenraum flogen und wir sie nachts nur mit viel Mühe wieder einbauen konnten. Ein unfassbarer Zustand! Wir finden diese Wohnung sollte bis zu einer kontrollierten Komplettsanierung aus dem Programm genommen werden! Dafür einen Preis von 2800 € zu verlangen, ist eine absolute Frechheit!! Dazu kam, dass die ganze Küche klebrig war und die Schuladen waren so alt und locker, dass man aufpassen musste nicht die Schubladenfront in der Hand zu haben. Die Qualität von Töpfen und Pfannen war katastrophal! Vollkommen ungesäuberte Dinge wie Käsereiben standen im Schrank! Der Backofen funktionierte nicht, keine Fernbedienung funktionierte, sämtliche Lampen hatten z.T. kaputte Glühbirnen. Die Recyclingtonne war randvoll mit Müll, die zweite Restmülltonne halbvoll, was für eine 4-köpfige Familie für 2 Wochen unzureichend ist! Die Kaffeemaschine war undicht, und stand ständig in einer Wasserlache. Die Dusche im Bad tropfte ständig auf die komplett verschimmelte und verfaulte Fußleiste. Im oberen Stockwerk war eine abgeschlossenen Kammer - vermutlich ein ehemals kleines Bad - indem es unaufhörlich tropfte und plätscherte - vermutlich ist das Dach o.Ä. undicht. Unsere Erfahrungen haben wir fotographisch festgehalten.

La location est bien équipée hyper propre les indications d'accès très claires Nous n'avons pas interagit directement avec la propriétaire mais elle répond vite et efficacement aux mails Le jardin clos était idéal pour lacher le chien Le site est très beau très calme Il faudrait mettre en avant les deux restaurants du coin intéressants three chimneys et l'étoile michelin juste au port en bas de la location Excellent séjour et feu de bois apprécié vu le peu de soleil A recommander et à y revenir

amazing location, awesome views and pub nearby
We were lucky enough to be visited by golden eagles at the cottage. The views are to die for. You have everything you need in the cottage including internet. The washing machine and separate dryer were a luxury and the brand new fridge freezer was a treat that dispensed cold water for drinking. Marion is a gem who took immediate care of any problems reported to her. A fantastic week. Thank you Marion.

Beautiful view
Comfortable cottage, perfect for our family of 4, with a comfortable king size bed in the master bedroom & decent twin beds in the 2nd bedroom. It had everything we needed for cooking, dining & cosying up for the evening. The view over the loch is breathtaking, and there are lovely walks nearby. Also nearby is The Yurt at Skye Skyns, which is a fabulous place to get coffee & cake, or a bowl of delicious soup. The owner is very friendly, and called us the say after we arrived to check if we had settled in ok & ask if we needed anything. We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend this property.

Just the most magnificant location, with views across the loch and beyond to the outer islands. Cottage is simple clean and comfortable in the traditional Skye manner - a beautiful getaway.

Wonderful
We absolutely loved this cottage. The location is superb. Quite honestly the comfiest bed I have slept in for years! Our host was friendly and welcoming throughout the entire booking and stay itself. Wonderful place to relax.

Lovely cottage with views to Outer Hebrides
One of the best things about this cottage was the amazing views over Loch Bay and the Outer Hebrides. The location was peaceful and tranquil ans we were scarcely aware of the neighbouring cortages. We found the cottage to be reasonably well equipped on the whole and enjoyed using the wood burning stove most evenings. Good quality towels were provided and also cleaning products including hand sanitizer at the entrance. Car parking was also easy. We did our main shopping at the Co op in Portree which was a bit of a trek but found the food store in nearby Dunvegan well stocked and reasonably priced. There was no mobile signal at the cottage but the wi-fi signal (secure connection) was good. Our nearest restaurant at Loch Bay was pre booked for the whole of August and September. We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage in Waternish and hope to return to Skye someday soon.

Spectacular views
Very homely property and has everything you need for a relaxing stay especially after long days walking etc Beds really comfortable which is a bonus for me. . All rooms spacious and have wonderful views.

Fantastic location and owner very helpful
We really enjoyed our stay, the house was in such a lovely spot and beds were extremely comfortable. The only thing stopping me giving a 5 star rating was that some of the drawers in kitchen and twin bedroom were a bit wobbly and on their last legs so we were a little afraid to use them incase we broke them, 2 dvd players but neither seemed to work and a bit of a breeze upstairs through the walls in the twin room when the wind blew. The owner was lovely and offered lots of advice of what to see and do including where the best kids park was locally. Overall a great trip and decent place to stay just a few wee easy fix niggles that didnt spoil the trip, just took it slightly off a full five stars.

Well appointed, comfortable and clean cottage with incredible views
Marion's property is in a stunning location, overlooking the loch and stunning view of Isay and North Uist. The sunsets are spectacular. It's in a lovely part of Skye within easy reach of Dunvegan and Portee as well as many of the islands most beautiful attractions - and a short walk from the Stein Inn, Michelin starred Loch Bay restaurant and the fantastic Tea and Cake Yurt at Skye Skins. The cottage is comfy and we found it spotlessly clean - and the kitchen is pretty well stocked with pots, pans and utensils. We had a wonderful time and will be back!

Beautifully decorated and very well equipped house with fantastic views
From the very first second on we really fell in love with this beautiful house. It was very pleasant to live there and the owner is very helpful and friendly. There was everything in the house that we needed.

Das Haus ist teilweise in einem desolaten Zustand.TV und WiFi funktionieren nicht.Defekte Glühlampen
Das Haus ist sauber und die Schlüsselübergabe mit dem Schlüsseltresor funktioniert. Die Bausubstanz ist schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Leider funktioniert das WiFi nicht. Der Wäscheständer hinter dem Haus ist defekt. TV mit Satellitenschüssel funktionierte ebenfalls nicht. Glühlampen waren defekt und die Beleuchtung war sehr veraltet. Die Möblierung in den Schlafzimmern und den beiden Wohnzimmern, war sehr alt und renovationsbedürftig. Die Küche und das Bad sind in Ordnung und zweckmässig. Der Preis für eine Woche von ca. 800 Pfund erscheint mir daher etwas hoch. Das Haus liegt sehr ruhig in Waternish mit schönem Ausblick auf das Meer. Die nächstgelegene Einkaufsmöglichkeit ist ca.15 Autominuten entfernt, in Dunvegan oder in Edinbane. Etwas näher liegt das Stein Inn (ca.2 Km), wo man gut essen und trinken kann.

Wonderful week
We had a wonderful week here. With often rainy and stormy weather the cottage became our strong and warm castle. We loved the beautiful seaviews ...and the little rabbits around the cottage.

Lovely spot - great views - lovely garden - but....
The house is in a lovely spot with fabulous views and the garden is really lovely, but the house (for the price) is a let down. It is cluttered with all kinds of things - including things that are broken. Some of the lights didn't work e.g. in the bathroom. There are enough pans to sink a ship - problem is you can't find anything through the mess in the drawer. And you have to be very careful opening that drawer as the front is falling off. There is an awful smell that comes from the headboard in the bedroom and the glasses stored in the sideboard smelt disgusting. There was also a very odd smell when you boil the kettle - a combination of stale curry and sweaty feet. 2 cockroaches also met their end while we were there. And the fly catchers on the windows were not nice either with their dead flies already there when we arrived. And behind the sofa - not sure when that last saw a hoover. It is a mish mash of stuff that is just a mess. Worse though is the cable from one of the lights in the living room to the plug - it has bare wires! Very dangerous! The beds were comfortable and the sofa (between all the cushions) was comfortable. We also wrote a question to the owner during our stay but received no response. It is a shame - the house could be really lovely but it needs a real deep clean and sort out.

Really confused by this review of the cottage. Reviews on either side of this week awarded 4/5 stars - as can be shown and only today had contact from current guests confirming that they were delighted with the cottage and everything was to their satisfaction. I am disappointed guests felt the cottage was cluttered but I do try to provide a large choice of reading material for both adults and children along with a large selection of games, DVD'S and aim for a "cosy" and child friendly look. I feel it is important to offer guests and especially children, alternative pursuits especially if weather is not favourable for walking etc. Everything in the cottage is there to offer guests as much variation and enjoyment as possible but some may look on this as "clutter". I would agree that bare electrical wires are very dangerous and caretaker makes regular checks on a weekly basis. However on the weekend in question, caretaker contacted me to say that the cable from a table lamp in the dining room had obviously been chewed through by a dog (teeth marks) and she removed the lamp immediately. I was not aware that a dog had been booked in for this week - a dogs lead had been left in the cottage. Cannot account for "cockroaches" as they are not native to the area but being in a country location cannot discount something coming in from the garden although this is most unusual. I have spoken to caretaker regarding "smells" and she is going to check this out and also have the fused bulb replaced in the bathroom. I am glad you agreed beds and couch were comfortable and that you were very happy with location and the large garden with its amazing sea views. The question referred to had already been answered fully in cottage website.

Faszinierend und sehr ruhig
Die Isle of Skye ist auf jeden Fall eine Reise wert, schon allein wegen der faszinierenden Landschaft... Das Cottage ist sehr schön gelegen, man hat einen tollen Blick auf die Bucht! Ausstattung und Einrichtung sind zwar nicht neu und hochmodern, aber es ist alles da, was man braucht! Das Mobiliar ist schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber rundum gemütlich. Im Haus gibt es eine große Sammlung an Büchern, Videos/DVDs (das meiste logischerweise englischsprachig) und Spielen. Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen!

Really a temporary home...
The house is situated in a very nice countryside and its windows offer really a magnificent view. It is very comfortable, you will find there anything you need for having a rest after walking tours on the Isle of Skye. It is also spacious and clean and there is a good wifi connection. Highly recommended!

Wild, peaceful perfection
This cottage was perfect; ideally suited to explore the island and so well appointed that we started referring to it as Mary Poppin's carpet bag; it had everything we could possibly need! More than that was the stunning views out the windows that seemed to change every 5 minutes, each more lovely than the last. Yes it was stormy and grey but we also had stunning blue skies and everything in between and somehow any blustery weather only added to the joy of our weekend. We loved our time in the cottage, I highly recommend it!
