Winter Getaway

Very comfortable furnishings and slept good. We had to wash a few dishes that were sticky but otherwise had everything we needed to make meals and relax.

First time there

Cozy little cabin, close to everything! You can walk to the tram, lake, and the lodge. It was small but two adults fit on the pull out and two in the bedroom just fine. The grill was a great bonus and all the deer in the backyard.

Charming Cabin in the Woods

All the charm you could wish of a "backcountry cabin" nestled underneath stately evergreens in the shadow of the Wallowa mountains. The cabin is situated in a little community of cabins close to the lakeside amenities. In the daytime you can hear the baritone hum of the tramway lifting fellow visitors up to the top of Mt. Howard and distant laughter of families enjoying themselves at the park or mini golf. A morning coffe klatch on the back deck with the diligent little juncos, cheerful chipmunks and silently grazing deer with the muffled rush of the Wallowa river punctuated by emphatic Robin song in the background, is a great way to prepare for a day activities. Call ahead to place an order at nearby Vali's Alpine Restaurant for home made doughnuts for an easy morning breakfast. This cabin is ideally located for exploring the park, visiting fun amusements, trails and sites of historical significance, and is a short drive from Joseph proper, where there are shopping, dining and recreational opportunities. Dogs are welcomed at the cabin, so you don't have to leave your best friend behind!

Cute, close to the lake and restaurant, but NO air conditioning.

We were in Joseph for a family get together. This small but cozy cabin suited our needs well with one exception. It was 96 degrees during the day and no air conditioning. The fans that were provided did a good job of blowing hot air around the cabin, but “miserable” would be a good word to describe the heat. It did cool down at night, but we would never stay there again in the summer. Would a small window AC unit be too much to expect? And, check in time is 4pm, as the listing said. We arrived at 2pm in the hopes that we could check in a little earlier. After arriving and seeing that the cabin had been cleaned, we called customer service and they said no, so we sat in the driveway for 2 hours until we could get in. Ugggg… In summary, the cabin is cute and comfy. It was well stocked with most things we needed. With ideal temperatures, it would be a great place to stay; however, if you don’t like living and sleeping in 90 degree temps in the summer, I’d suggest you book another property with air conditioning.

Perfect Location!

Cute little rustic cabin in the heart of the alpine area at Wallowa Lake. Walking distance to the lake and tram. Our dog enjoyed the fenced backyard for short breaks.

Great location

This is an older cabin with some of the oddities that come with it. Overall comfortable and in a nice location. Only real complaint was that when the temperature dropped down into the mid 40s we tried to use the gas fireplace/ furnace. It has a mind of its own. Wouldn’t turn on and when it finally did it wouldn’t turn off.

Great little bungalow!

Clean and comfortable! Loved the deck with picnic table and fenced yard for our pup. Quiet neighborhood. Great location-only 5 minute drive from Joseph. Within walking distance to the lake, general store with grill, coffee kiosk, tramway to Mt. Howard and souvenir shops, etc. if you have two cars, the driveway on the right when looking at cabin belongs to neighbor—so don’t park there (park to the left of cabin or in front of cabin). The city/county needs to fill potholes in—several large ones leading to the cabin, so be on the lookout!
