“Bertha's house was even better than the photos showed! Having a split-level layout was perfect for our group - because the sleeping areas were separate from the main floor, it made it easy for people to be awake and have a space to relax even if others were sleeping. The house was immaculate and we thoroughly enjoyed our time both on the patio, in the basement (super comfy couch!) and the dining room. We would definetely say again!”

My husband loved the little town and was able to get in a very scenic 15 mile run. Marion is an amazing host and extremely communicative. 12/10! Would stay again!”

“We loved our stay at this property. It was a great country setting and very comfortable. The furniture was like new and very comfortable. Many extras like coffee and tea. They provided soaps, shampoo, and plenty of bath towels and wash cloths. The owner checked on us to make sure we were happy with everything and wanted to know if we needed anything. This house is very convenient to all of the attractions and shopping in Shipshewana. You can't go wrong staying here. I would highly recommend this……

“The house was in good shape and well suited for a large group. We had 10 that slept comfortably. Property manager responded promptly. Some minor misinformation on the VBRO site (likely just out of date) such as an incorrect WiFi password and sending the door code the day prior to arrival, but these were minor things that were resolved promptly with no issue. Overall an enjoyable experience and a nice setting on the lake. Some nearby gunshots in the early morning hours both days could be heard...……

“Upon arrival the house was smaller than expected but after we checked in it was perfect . Everything worked as it should and there were no issues the whole time we were there . The owner supplied free firewood for the late nights outside while the deck at the waterfront and large docking area for the boats was appreciated much as well . Property manager was so easy and nice to work with and was very useful when getting area information . Thank you much for a great family made memory , we will be……

“I wanted to take my wife somewhere to relax and to get away. Gardengate was just wonderful. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by Rhoda the owner and she was wonderful in so many ways. Her husband Tom was also so welcoming and kind..we felt like part of their family. The cottage was perfect and so nice. We loved the farm atmosphere and we were so impressed. I really cant say anything negative about our stay or the quality of the cottage. Rhoda was so helpful as the host and my wife and I……

“This home is very spacious and private. I stayed here with my family. We had a total of 9 adults and 4 teens. There was a lot of room and we did not feel like we were on top of each other. The kitchen was well equipped with supplies for cooking. The home was clean upon arrival. The owner was great! He had great communication before our arrival and was great about checking on us during our stay. We would absolutely love to rent this home again if we were to return to Michigan.”

“Overnight stay to be able to attend Ship Chic in Shipshewana. Needed a place with 4 bedrooms for 4 adult females. Emma’s place fit the bill. Great communication, adorable house. Only issue was garage next door had roofers starting at 7:30 am and property owner has no control over that. We’re hoping to travel up that way again and would love to have a repeat stay at Emma’s Place”
