The Shipyard Condos enjoy an enviable location in the Truman Annex area of Key West, just a short walk from the white sands of Fort Zachary Beach. You'll be amazed by how quiet this location is, despite being half a mile south of Mallory Square and two blocks from Duval Street's renowned shops, restaurants, and nightlife. You can easily stroll to the famous Ernest Hemingway House (a quarter-mile east) and the USCGC Ingham Maritime Museum (half a mile west) as well.

Pleasantly surprised!

This is not my first stay with a VRBO property but it’s my first review. The managing company, Vacasa, was a joy to work with. Someone was available by phone late Sunday evening to remind me of the access code I failed to remember. They were in contact via text message to make sure the place was clean and to make sure we got in. I’m very happy with their service. I thought 661 square feet was going to be small. The pictures are a little outdated because they have a new couch which is a sofa sleeper. The beds are all memory foam and there are plenty of pillows, two portable fans for noise, and ceiling fans in every room. I’ve never slept so well in a VRBO rental. It had everything we needed other than a can opener. The best part is that it has two decks, one off of the kitchen in front and one off of the living room in back. The location is absolutely perfect. You won’t need a car for anything other than getting to the airport. You are two small blocks away from the action of Duval. What about groceries? The grocery stores deliver your food! It will sleep 5-6 people comfortably with the sofa sleeper in the living room. I’m not sure they want me to say that since it’s advertised as a 4-person.

NICE HOME BUT NEEDS SOME UP KEEP

The check in process was a little crazy. The literature did not tell us that we need to open the outside door to use the eloc and have fifteen minutes the downstairs told us that no longer was working. The twin beds need to be replaced since they were so old that every time you moved they would make really bad noises. The property management company brought us a new box spring for one but the other ones and also the master needs to be replaced. The out doors umbrella was broken but again the property management company brought us a new one. The sofa in the living room is old and once you sit on the left hand side it is very difficult getting up. The unit has everything that you need and the location is within walking distance of everything. Both the washing machine and the dishwasher are difficult to use. The door on the dishwasher is very difficult to open and the controls on the washing machine are almost impossible to move. In order to open the microwave you need to be a giant in order to open the microwave. The unit is within walking distance of everything in town. If the above items are repaired the place would be great. Thanks

Key west Truman Annex condo

Reasons for 3 star rating: Floor was very dirty, all of our socks were black after walking on it. Master bed says queen in description, but was a full, this made it hard to sleep. The kitchen is very sparsely stocked be prepared to buy napkins, paper towels, salt and pepper, dishwasher detergent, laundry soap, dryer sheets etc. One of the twin bed frames was broken in 3 spots, the umbrella on the deck is broken, the couch is very old and worn out (you sink way into it), the TV in the master turns on but has no cable or regular TV channels, static only and the dishwasher cleans dishes at about 40%, you will need to rewash most things twice, except you can’t because there is no plug for the sink drain to ha d wash. Bath towels had large chunks of hair in them when we arrived. We have stayed at VRBO locations many times and this one didn’t impress inside. The location, pool and community cleanliness are all excellent! We paid a lot and didn’t feel we quite got what we paid for based on the lack of items and condition of the overall unit and items within it. They need to update the beds and couch badly.
