The room was clean but very small. The bathroom was tiny. I am 5’5” and not overweight and I could barely close the bathroom door when sitting on the toilet. Loud window air conditioner that did not cool that great. No headboard on the bed. They are close to duvall street and the beach. They will let you use washer and dryer for free.

We are SO glad we chosed the Southwinds Motel. If you want the REAL Key West experience go there. We wanted something authentic, not the standard marble and glass hotels that are the same everywhere. Great friendly staff, Great pool, great bar with live music, a full liqour store and ice cream / donut shop all on site. Continental breakfast to
start your day. A short walk to the Southern
Most point and Duval St. Is only one street over. Surrounded by multiple great restaurants within walking distance. We couldn't be happier with the place, honestly.

That is our second time staying there and we absolutely enjoy the place. We enjoy the location. It’s quick to walk to. We enjoy the beach access. Everybody is so familiar there. We will be staying there again soon.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It is an older property but nice. The staff are very nice and accommodating. The Tipsy Rooster bar was a nice little treat at the property. Ana's Cuban Market is right across the street, which is very convenient. Coffee and light breakfast fare available each morning. Not a huge deal but we wished the bathroom had been a little larger and the shower water flow had been a bit better, but it is an old school motel. A great little gem in the Southernmost area which is quieter and more relaxed but conveniently located to the happenings in and around Duval street.

The room was ready but staff would not allow us to check in early because we booked on Expedia. The water pressure was the worst I have ever experienced. The ac unit was rusty and leaked water. The entire room smelled like the sewer. Staff member was leaf blowing right outside our room at 6:00 AM

This motel was perfect for what we needed. It had breakfast, two pools, a bar and an ice cream shop with donuts. The location was great with the Deli across the street and the food truck across the other street. It was super close to this other most hotel where you can utilize their lounge chairs and it was a great place to sit right on the beach for food. And if you wanted to take a picture with the famous buoy, it was right there. You could also rent golf carts right across the street as well. A nice walk to Duvall Street. I would definitely return because of the ease of everything.

Had always noticed the South winds Motel right by Tipsy Rooster (my favorite little place in Key West) when I come down but had never stayed until this past weekend. It was perfect for our needs! Plenty of space in the room, including a spacious closet, clean, comfy beds, 2 nice pools to wake you up in the morning after a couple drinks the night before, and while there was limited interaction with the staff, they were great! Easy check-in and out. Truly enjoyed this place and will 100% stay again when I come down next!

This is not a 5 star hotel but the beds were clean and comfortable. We had a large room with 2 queen beds and a kitchenette with a coffee maker, microwave and full sized refrigerator. The staff was friendly and efficient. Breakfast was nothing special but typical grab & go options. I heard they are getting a toaster and will have bagels and toast as additional options. The heated pool was great for a relaxing float. The hotel is in a great location and we love the Tipsy Rooster bar. The only negative was that the floors could have been cleaner.

Nice place to stay, within 30 minute walk to all fun places in old Key West. Very weak water supply during our stay.

Really nice old school motel vibe… room was updated and beds were very comfortable. Great location close to some cool places. I really enjoyed just sitting outside of the room under the covered porch, especially during those rainy periods. My kids loved that they had an ice cream truck on premises. We had a great time!

Would stay here again without question. The property has a lot of character. It is a bit dated and in need of a little more cosmetic attention. Things like discolored/cracked caulk, paint gone, can see outside thru the AC unit, bathroom fixtures flow slow, etc. Having said all that, the place is clean, well kept and in a perfect location relative to beach access and Duval Street. It took a couple days to get used to the breakfast area. They basically put out the allotment for the day and when it’s gone, it’s gone vs a hotel chain that tells you breakfast from 7-10 and they continually restock throughout. Again, no big deal and it doesn’t impact my higher rating. The staff was helpful and polite and we enjoyed the nightly entertainment at the tiki bar. If you are like us and don’t spend a lot of time in your room other than sleeping and showering, this place should be on your list to consider.

Great location! Outside of the Duvall Street bustle but within easy walking distance to everything, including the beach, grocery store and restaurants. The onsite outdoor bar, the Tipsy Rooster, features great drinks and live music. The onsite pools are great. One has plenty of room for the family and the other is heated and provides a quieter, more laid-back and secluded place to relax. My go-to place in Key West for affordability and convenience!
