"第一印象としては思ったより幹線道路沿いにあるなと思いましたが、宿の中はとても静か。昔の豪農のおうち（文化財）を改築したようです。大浴場の景観も山側が見えるようにされています。スタッフの方々の気配りもとても良い印象でした。夕食は質実剛健といった感じ。お野菜多めで見た目も美しく、お味も上品。量控えめなのかなと思いきや、メインは赤身の新潟和牛をしっかりめに出してくださり、最後は美味しい白ごはんとけんちん汁。おなかいっぱいでした。朝食も種類が多いわけではないのですが、美味しい白ごはんとそのお供を中心に、ビュッフェスタイルでじゅうぶんなバリエーション。さらに席についたときに3種類から一品温かい主菜を選ばせてくれます。ラウンジでも時間によってパティスリー、ソフトドリンク、日本酒などを無料で提供。チェックアウト12時はとてもゆっくりできました。"

"I truly enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable and authentic experience. What impressed me most was the incredibly welcoming staff, who made me feel at home from the moment I arrived. Their genuine hospitality added a personal touch that made all the difference.The experience felt authentic and thoughtfully curated, with so many small details carefully considered to make guests feel special. From the atmosphere to the little touches throughout my stay, everything contributed to a unique and memorable experience. It was clear that a lot of care and attention went into creating such a wonderful environment. I left with great memories and would happily return in the future."

"The Celecton is a nice, standard Japanese hotel. The rooms are small, but they are practical, very clean and amenities are good. If you want a hotel that is close to the Castle then this is a good one, but it is 10-15 minutes walk to the train station, restaurants, and the other attractions in Matsumoto. My room was facing the Castle but directly above a busy road, so it was quite noisy."

"I stayed at the JAL for 8 nights and was happy with the service. The location is great as it is a short walk to Zenkoji Temple, the Prefectural Museum and also to Nagano JR Station. Nagano was a fascinating city to visit and the JAL was situated in a good location for finding amenities such as shopping and food. I love to walk and I really enjoyed exploring the area around the hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Although my room was rather crowded with 3 beds, it was kept clean and well stocked. My only complaint was that the breakfast for a Westerner was very limited and got predictable very quickly. The food was very good, presented well and tasted fine but after 8 breakfasts eating the same things I was ready for a change."

APA Hotel & Resort Niigata Ekimae Odori

"APA is still a business hotel so the room size is going to be small. Good thing is that it is luxurious in terms of presentation so in a way you will feel the money is well spent. As per APA standard, all the amenities, switches and luggage space (under the bed) is all well planned. Just having the room to sleep this is more than enough. Key thing to note is that the lift will be full of people from 15 minutes before and after the check out time at 10am so don't leave it too late to check out. The other nice amenity is the public baths. Enjoy the warm 40 degree C water to ease your tired muscles after a day of walking and exploring. I don't know I miss it until I got to APA Ueno where it does not have a public bath so enjoy it while you can. Personally I have skipped the breakfast at APA. It is not expensive but after experiencing the other APA's breakfast, I think I can do better at the nearby Cafe."
