Luxury hotel overlooking Kyoto. Newly built 12 months ago so everthing was well maintained. Short walk to restaurants. Many close at 8pm due to local rules. We wanted a relaxing place to spend our last few nights after a busy tour of Japan. This hotel was great for that.

A gem perfectly placed along a bamboo forest

My favorite part of my 21 day journey was Kyoto and the Banyan Tree Higashiyama. The hotel was perfectly located and the check in was enjoyable. My room was stunning and a wonderful refuge after spending the day waking and hiking around the sacred temples of Kyoto. I liked how I could customize my room with the screens and the different lighting options in the room. Breakfast was perfectly presented each morning.

The staff treated us like VIP the moment we got out of the taxi and checked in. The check-in staff served us matcha and very fresh mochi confectionaries. The concierge, Yumi, in particular, went above and beyond to help us arrange our bullet train transportation after our stay to make our upcoming journey as seamless as possible. We could not be more grateful for her assistance. Our Grand Serenity room was beautiful. We appreciated the additional treats that were provided during turn down service. We also loved the essential oil selections to enhance the smell of our room. The bed in our room was the most comfortable we had on our 2 week trip in Asia. My husband and I felt like we were in zen heaven during our entire stay. The complimentary Japanese kaiseki breakfast at the onsite restaurant Ryozen was also a treat!

This is a newer hotel. The location is a little difficult for walking to or from- taxis do not come by so we had to walk down to them each time. Think they haven’t found this hotel in the map yet. Room was lovely with fabulous views. The staff was what brought our rating of this hotel down, from the minute we arrived we felt unwelcome and staff was spotty the entire stay. I could say more, but we stayed at 2 other hotels during our visit to Kyoto and their service was impeccable. This hotel, from a service prospective, was far from a 5 star experience; or an experiences we’ve had at other Banyan properties

The property is impeccably designed and constructed, with an outstanding location. Nevertheless, the most memorable aspect of our stay was the exceptional service provided by the hotel staff. Every member of the team greeted us warmly, demonstrated genuine friendliness, and consistently went out of their way to ensure guests were comfortable and well cared for. 최근 오픈한 호텔로, 반얀트리 브랜드에 대한 기대치를 충족하기에는 다소 부족한 부분이 있었습니다. 직원들은 대체로 친절했으나, 5성급 특급 호텔에서 기대되는 세심하고 전문적인 서비스 수준과는 거리가 있었습니다. 레스토랑의 식사는 무난한 편에 그쳤으며, 인룸 다이닝 메뉴는 선택의 폭이 매우 제한적이었습니다. 리조트형 시설이 아닌 만큼 공용 온천장은 크기가 작고 다만 객실과 온천장 이동은 편리한 동선이였습니다. 온천 객실은 일반 객실과 구분되니 예약시 사전 확인이 필수적입니다. 피트니스 센터 역시 공간이 협소하고 답답하게 느껴졌습니다. 넓은 로비 공간 외에는 눈에 띄는 특징이 없었으며, 객실 수가 적어 조용하긴 하지만 호텔 내부 공간이 전반적으로 좁아 여유로운 분위기를 기대하기 어려웠습니다. 객실은 지나치게 건조하여, 가습 효과를 위해 욕조에 물을 받아도 큰 효과가 없었고, 난방기를 꺼도 여전히 건조했습니다. 특히 숙면 후 목이 따가울 정도로 불편함이 있었습니다. 호텔의 가장 큰 장점은 청수사 인근에 위치해 고즈넉한 분위기를 즐길 수 있다는 점이지만, 다른 지역으로의 접근성이 떨어지고, 주변에 편의시설이 부족해 불편했습니다. 또한, 교토 택시 기사들조차 위치를 잘 몰라 Park Hyatt를 기준으로 설명해야만 찾아갈 수 있었습니다. 다만, 오픈 초기 호텔답게 모든 시설이 매우 깨끗하고 청결했던 점은 인상적이었습니다.
