“The cottage was perfect for 2 for an anniversary get away. Convenient to Williamsburg/Jamestown/Yorktown without being congested. A number of restaurants in the area. Watching the sunset from the river dock was beautiful every night. Although we only ate breakfast there, the kitchen seemed to be equipped with most everything you need. Although we had no problem, the narrow steep stairs to the bedroom could be an issue for someone with mobility issues. Overall a very nice place to stay if……

“Great location and charm”

“Spent a weekend here with friends and it was great. The only reason we rate it 4 stars instead of 5 is because due to an unforeseen maintenance issue, the pool was not accessible for the duration of the stay. The host was able to provide pool passes for the town pool located around the corner from the house and was able to help us out on the cost per night since a main reason we booked was to be able to relax by our own pool. The dock was relaxing and provided great wildlife from herons and……

“A lovely cottage right in Yorktown that our family of 4 enjoyed staying in very much. The main living area is beautiful and the beds are very comfortable, with the twin bedroom being downstairs and main double upstairs. The kitchen was well equipped, if a little small for two to work comfortably! But it had everything we needed for our stay, the beach is a short walk and we found the history of the area, all within a short distance of the cottage, to be fascinating.”

“The house is great. Very clean and the A/C works great! I was surprised that the dock ended abruptly and is blocked. We were there to fish and crab, but fishing was more about getting snagged because we couldn't cast from the end of the dock. Jelly fish were by the hundreds in the water. Not any issue of the property owner just disappointing for anyone wanting to swim. Closet swim beach that is useable by renters is about a 12 minute drive. Wake Beach is about 100 yards of sandy beach……

“We live in the county but just needed some extra room for our visiting nephew. I was very familiar with area so it was an easy decision. We had so much planned for his visit but he was addicted to fishing after day one so a lot of our time was spent on the dock fishing and crabbing. It was a wonderful week. The pictures of the house are exactly as it is.”

“3rd year in a row here! It’s the best! Jennifer is super communicative and responsive to all needs. She also ensures the house is a home and cozy at that! Half Shell Haven has plenty of space for all of the activities, is stocked with everything you could need (kitchen for cooking, bathroom necessities you may forget, and plenty of extra blankets). The dock is super nice and allows you to crab from right there. Will continue to come back :)”

“My daughters and I had an amazing time at the sweet Escape. We stayed for a week and enjoyed the beach access, views of the bay, dolphins swimming and also the town of white stone and kilmarnock. My nanny lived in white stone when I was a little girl and staying here really brought back a lot of memories. Thank you for sharing your home with us.”
