Excellent stay

Had an excellent stay at the star hotel. The staff were brilliant. So warm ,friendly and welcoming on arrival . Quite being up a side street. But has excellent location being thirty yards from city centre high street. And Forty yards from main bus stops.

This is an old coaching inn so no lifts and a lot of stairs to get to the rooms. Our requested twin room wasn't available but we were given the one bedroom apartment and another room instead. This was fine as we could cook instead of going to restaurants. The proprietors had also given us some supplies such as eggs, bacon, milk tec, which was very generous. The bar downstairs was more of a young person's place but I didn't hear much of the music at night. Parking was in the Argos car park nearby. The area was off the main street, built up and a bit run down. However, much of Montrose centre seemed a bit neglected. The check-in had to be arranged beforehand but it worked out ok, with a young man there to let us in. The hotel seems to be getting upgraded bit by bit and the apartment was large with a good kitchen and a double bedroom.

I love Montrose The people are great A staff member carried my bag upstairs The room was spacious The shower deserves a mention it had plenty force and hot water It’s very central to everything and it’s all walkable. Also the guy on breakfast is doing a great job enough to set you up for the day and served really quickly 💛 I will definitely be back😀

We enjoyed our stay in the oldest hotel in Montrose! The showers, staff and beds were great! We arrived on a night when the bar area was not open and so had to call for someone to come and let us in and they were there in 5 minutes😊

Basic but it gets the important stuff right.

Comfortable beds and bedding with a clean well kept bathroom. The public spaces and corridors are a bit glum but the staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean and comfortable. It can get a bit rowdy at the weekends but I slept through it all. You get a decent breakfast including vegetarian option included.
