Clean and comfortable - great location for exploring the Isle

Clean and comfortable - great location for exploring the Isle. Staff were friendly and at the Calbourne Water Mill (the lodges are on the site) they were super friendly. All the facilities you’d need for a week (or longer) with lovely countryside walks around the area. Would recommend for a younger family 👍

Peaceful setting

The positives about Badgers Oak were the peaceful surroundings, the size of the lodge, the location and the welcome pack left out for us. The mill is fairly central on the island so it makes a great base for exploring. The facilities on site were good too, my children loved the mini golf and feeding the ducks, geese, peacocks and chickens, and cafe was good too. It is surrounded by woods and fields you can walk around easily which is definitely a plus and great if you’re bringing a dog. If you want shops etc Newport is 20 minutes drive and there you have everything. Some negatives too I’m afraid. The whole lodge seemed a little tired, and in need of some small repairs and probably new mattresses. A few things were missing, like only having 5 dining chairs (it sleeps a party of 6), and not enough bedside lamps. It was the end of the summer we stayed so I appreciate this kind of work probably waits until the off season but for the price I felt it could have been kept to a higher standard. But overall it was very nice and our family appreciated the quiet surroundings.

The size of the accommodation was great the bedrooms were a really good size, the sofas were very comfortable, and it was handy for the whole island Maybe some hooks on the backs of the doors for towels, I'm afraid the bathroom window wouldn't open

A lovely location for a getaway wood cabin

A great location on an island with lots of things to do and explore. The cabin provided everything we needed for our family getaway, but if I was being honest the mattresses on all the beds left a lot to be desired and didn’t provide the best of nights sleep. A few bits of the cabin could do with updating, but overall I would definitely recommend it.

Love this place

We booked the this place last minute a few days before arriving after issues with our previous accommodation bookings. We were surprised to find something so great still available in the first week of school holidays. The accommodation is great, really well set out for a relaxing family holiday (also if you need to work remotely whilst away - the separate dining room means you can have the space and a table to work from if you need to). The location next to the old water mill is great and all the staff on site are so nice to those staying in accommodation. Lovely tea room, activities for the kids, mini golf and my 2 years favorite - lots of ducks to feed. it is also really well located and easy to get around to any part of the Island. Only down side is that as it is an eco lodge and uses a bio hot water system - there was an issue with our hot water and it took 2 days for someone to come fix it which meant cold showers for a day or so. Despite this I would definitely be back to say again.
