Gorgeous property!

The house and its location is top notch all around. The beach is gorgeous and we had it all to ourselves most of the time. The house is close to Governor’s Harbor and the center of the island which makes it easy to do excursions at the North end or the South end of the island. We enjoyed every second of our vacation here. Highly recommend this house!

Magical First Trip to Eleuthera

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our two week visit to Tourmaline exceeded expectations. The house is lovely, and perfect for our first week with our son, daughter in law, and grandchildren aged 5 and 3. And not too big for just the two of us during our second week. We loved it so much we tried to add a third week, either at Tourmaline or next door at Dream House, to no avail. So we booked next year for three weeks. Walking on the beach is gorgeous. When the wind calmed down, we enjoyed snorkeling off the beach in front of the house. Easy walk east to La Bouganvillia for drinks and lunch. We took several day trips to explore the area. Tippy’s is great for lunch & dinner. The real find is Eleuthra Island Store, great produce and baked goods on Tuesdays and Fridays. Cinnamon rolls are amazing! Can’t waitTo go back.

Great Place to Escape

We chose Tourmaline for our family vacation and enjoyed every minute of it. This private property has great beach access, perfect views, and all the amenities. The central location on the island and proximity to Governor’s Harbor was also a great benefit for site seeing, shopping, and dining. We highly recommend Tourmaline.

Great Vacation House

House is very nice - also quite remote feeling but not far from restaurants and Governor’s Harbor. The beach is beautiful! Tenielle was a wonderful host! The only thing that could use repair is the long driveway. However, it is like many driveways on Eleuthera so I think you just have to expect it (but don’t be surprised as it’s quite a bumpy road).

Tourmaline

We were so happy to get back to Eleuthra! Our accommodations and stay were beyond perfect. Every minute was a dream for each of us The property manager was lovely and very helpful. The grounds are beautiful and the home exquisite - right down to picking our own watermelon between the house and pool. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience - we hope to be back one day!!

Spectacular Property!! We will be back.

This property is situated on 11 acres that provide the ultimate privacy if that is what you are looking for. The house sits about 50 ft. above the water on a slight ridge that provides incredible views across the island and up and down the beach. The grounds are landscaped and well maintained. We arrived a couple hours before checkin and were greeted by Perry. The house was still being cleaned but we were allowed to bring our luggage into the home, change our clothes and head over to the pool until they were ready for us. During our stay we explored the island from one end to the other. For us Tourmaline offered the best location, most attractive home, privacy, on the beach, close to Governors Harbor and would not recommend staying anywhere else on Eleuthera.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had the most amazing vacation in Eleuthera but the highlight of the trip was this amazing property. It was my husband and I with our two boys 4 and 7 years old. We instantly relaxed walking in on day one. The views from the huge windows of the gorgeous ocean are remarkable. We loved the property with the elevated pool overlooking the ocean, the hike down to the incredibly spectacular beach and the comfortable and very functional house. There isn't a single thing we would change about our stay at Tourmaline and we are really hoping we can come back again soon.

The management company was very organized and answered questions before we departed for the trip. They were also available quickly when we had an issue at the house mid week. The house is in great condition. It is very clean, the pool area is excellent and private, and the beach is beautiful and almost always empty (literally no other humans to be found). Only downside are the biting bugs. We both left with a lot of bug bites despite our best efforts with Deet.

The location was beyond beautiful. The beach below the house was amazing. It was wide and clean with crystal blue water. We saw a handful of people on it during our stay. We loved the pool it was huge! The landscaping was obviously something that they put a lot of thought to. I am a garden fanatic and I was very impressed. One small thing which I loved was the clothes line for wet bathing suits and the outdoor shower to rinse off the sand. I would not change a thing about Tourmaline, it was perfect.

Overall a bit disappointing. House needs some renovations to bring it up to date. Very small second bedroom downstairs,not really suitable for adult. Pool lovely,but could do with a pathway from house. Electric did go off and backup generator did not work,without power for approx 45 minutes. Walk down to beach not suitable for elderly ,disabled or if you have leg,knee problems. Where not met by caretaker on arrival. As I say a bit disappointed.

Truly unique and wonderful

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family (wife, 8 yr old, 5 yr old, infant and their grandmother) and I had an amazing time at Tourmaline. Hard to know where to start, but suffice to say, it's obvious a great deal of thought has gone into making the property well-suited for vacationers, and it is. Perry was wonderful. Would recommend Ten Bay Beach, especially for children. Restaurants we'd recommend: Buccaneer, 1648, Tippy's and Fishbone (in Savannah Sound). Bacchus had the best wine selection we found, as well as good cheeses, etc. Kris (owner of Buccaneer) rented us a kayak and paddleboard, and was very easy to work w/. If you go south/east on the beach maybe 150-200 yards, there is a stretch that has no rocks and is a good area for kids to play. We snorkeled a good bit in that area and the kids were blown away. Overall, we feel in love w/ the island and Tourmaline, and we hope to return soon.

Absolutely Stunning!!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My husband and I were lucky enough to enjoy a week in July at this amazing property. The house was clean and close to town, although a little difficult to find the first time in. The little sign for the house is not facing the road from both directions. There are some starter items in the home such as soap, shampoo, toilet paper, etc. The caretaker, Perry, was very informative and friendly. If you need anything during your stay, he goes the extra mile. His wife had made a vegetarian lasagna and left it for our first night along with a bottle of wine. It was really appreciated after a long day of travel. The beach in front of the house is breathtaking and was pretty private. We only saw one other couple two days of our stay. There is a path down to the beach, but is a fairly good climb back up although this is why there are such amazing views from the house. There is some construction going on close to the house so the privacy fence by the saltwater pool is nice to have. We enjoyed the area around the house so much that we never left the property other than to go to the store. If you are looking to rent a vehicle, I would suggest that you do not rent from Taylor and Taylor Rent-A-Car. We have still not received our $100 refundable deposit despite several emails. This was suppose to have been refunded within 24-48 hours and we arrived back home on July 28. When asked if we would go back, we always say absolutely!

Tourmaline - beautiful getaway

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed for 2 weeks at the beginning of December 2023. This is a very clean and exceptionally private property. You can leave the windows open at night and listen to the waves crashing against the shore. The grounds keeper and pool cleaners came a couple of times a week - they honk the car horn before walking around to do their tasks. The weather was a bit inclement (rain and high winds) making the beach unusable, but when the weather was good - the sand is powdery soft with pink visible in the grains. There are reefs "bommies" offshore which are about 8-15ft in depth. Lots of fish including barracuda and stingrays (and some very elusive lobster). The internet worked intermittently, moving the router (it uses LTE from a cell provider) to the upstairs master bedroom improved reception. On the days with bad weather, the WIFI was unstable - and the power went out multiple times (but only for a couple of minutes max). As a backup - use your cell phone for internet, which worked flawlessly. Bring along a couple of headlamps (and maybe a string of LED lights) for the pool area. It is dark there at night, and the bar-b-que is there. There are no overhead lights at the pool (other than the lights in the pool and some limited landscape lights). Beware of the bugs. No-see-ums were horrible, not just at the property but all over the island. We used repellent yet still wound up with hundreds of itchy welts. Take Benadryl tablets and spray, and repellent with at least 40% deet. The wind will keep them down a bit, but anywhere there is shelter the bugs will get you. Also be aware that Governor's Harbour airport security (when leaving) will confiscate all your unused aerosol cans. We lost 6 new cans of Coppertone, plus deodorant and insect repellent. I suspected this was a scam - we went through security in Nassau and there was no problem. If your aerosol cans have the "explosive" or "flammable" WHIMIS labels (they all do), don't expect to leave Eleuthera with them.

Best Vacation of our Lives!

Our family of 5 was lucky enough to experience Tourmaline and the beautiful island of Eleuthera early March 2020 (before the world shut down). It was one of our most favorite vacations we have ever taken. Getting there is seamless. Tourmaline is in the middle of the island we were glad we flew into North Eleuthera (we had a car waiting for us, a must so you can explore!) as we enjoyed every minute of the beautiful hour long drive to Governor's Harbour and Tourmaline. You'll pass over Glass Window Bridge, which is where the Carribean and Atlantic meet and is breathtaking. Do your research, as this bridge does close when the seas and winds are strong. Tourmaline is perfectly situated right on the ocean side and every night we slept with windows open and enjoyed the sound of the surf below. The house itself was perfect for our family of 5. The lasagna and wine, compliments of the host, the first night, were delicious and such a welcome treat after a day of travel with 3 kids (8, 11 and 13). The housekeepers, the groundskeepers, Shirley, Pam and Perry and everyone at Tourmaline truly went out of their way to make our stay a super special one. Our kids loved the pool in the afternoons after a day of beaching and exploring. The house is perfectly situated on one of the prettiest stretches of beaches on the Atlantic side and its right in the middle of the island. We explored beaches from the southern tip to the northern tip. There are tons of options for groceries, and restaurnants nearby as well. Here are a list of our favorites: Beaches: Lighthouse Beach (Southern tip). James Cistern (In Hatchet Bay Cave) and Twin Sisters Beach for good shells and snorkeling. If the tides are right stop at Queens Baths across from Twin Sisters. Surfers Beach for big waves and surf if that is your thing. Ten Bay beach and Alabaster/Receivers Beach are beautiful Carribean beaches for snorkling and close to the house. Beach right in front of house was one of our favorites though! Go at low tide and walk to the left past the rocks. For groceries, Rock Sound market, Midway Cost Cutters were our favs. Island Farms (Tues and Fri fresh baked goods) or Bacchus for produce and wine. Don't miss Tippys, Buccaneers, Bougainvillea. All these places have live music various nights. We dressed up one night and went to 1648 at French Leave and it was wonderful too. Da Perk great for coffee and lunch. To-do, rent boat through Captain Kidd and explore nearby islands! All incredible!
