“Lovely old lodge hotel, very helpful staff, quiet room with view of garden. Evening meal on our first night exceptional, the steak was sublime, full english breakfast set us up for the day. Very enjoyable we will certainly return”

The hotel is in the middle of the countryside accessed by minor roads which may not suit some people.”

“I would have marked the stay as excellent, but the room was cold as the radiator stat had been turned down to the frost mark. I adjusted but did not come on until the next morning. I suffer from arthritis and keep warm to reduce the pain because of the cold bed and room suffered with a lot of pain. ”

The room itself was not too impressive. The room was stuffy, safe didn’t work, and the shower was a trickle.
Overall location 10 out of 10 so if you are out and about exploring York all day and arriving/departing by train it would be good choice. If you want to relax in your room then I would recommend a different room category or another hotel. "
